ryo have been looking at making study of this long stroke piston system and notice that mr. kalishnikov's weapon seem to be somewhat similar to the system use by mr. Garand. is this the case ka or is ryo making mistake here ka

both the AK and later garand models use the long stroke piston which I believe are pretty similar. earlier garand models used a gas trap system, but then they adpoted the BAR's long stroke system.

ryo very much interest in the long stroke piston system ever since fell in love with the Swedish Saab/Bofors FFV AK 5 Basic. it also have AK style long stroke piston system. Wondering how much of ryo savings it would cost to get own AK 5 Basic. it just so very kewl rifle. ryo would really like to have one. even as ryo say this though, still am very much fond of very first rifle, my little Walther G22 Black A3 bullpup neh. :-)

from what I can find, both the BAR and garand adopted the long piston from the M1895 marlin gun. As stated above, I believe the BAR was first.

As far as AK/Garand... the AK's long piston is regulated, and the Garand's is not

I have been interested in small arms most of my life and have mainly studied surplus/historical rifles for quite a while. When ever I can't get my facts straight, good ol yahoo comes to the rescue.
