Thanks for all your input/suggestions so far. I'm interested in .357 Mag. in a small frame. It will serve for a target/defense weapon. So any suggestions before I get to the local shop/range and rent/shoot would be much appreciated.

I would recommend a S&W J frame (small frame). I really like the 340PD model for a snub because of the alloy and titanium, but its pretty expensive... or S&W K or L frame (meduim frames). Rugers such as the SP101 are good too. I've never been a fan of taurus.

If you are planning on carring it, I would recomment getting a light weight frame. If not, a heavier frame will be easier on your hands and have less recoil.
