Ribbed Steel Siding Installation
Plan on re-siding my shop & material will be delivered Monday. One question: Most of the panels will need to be cut to length. I would think it would be best to have that cut edge on the top. Still, shouldn't I put something (paint?) on it even though it will be in the J-channel? Any other tips appreciated. Thanks guys, It's too late for me, save yourself. |

put some primer on it with a brush,i personally never have but what the heck.
How are you cutting the panels? Up here when i get steel ribbed panels they give me a cutter for it.Looks like a bigger version of a paper cutter, complete with the rib profile on it so the steel sheet lays in there and doesn't tweak.Thats a pretty quiet way to go.Cutting with a saw will drive ya nuts with so much noise.Good luck.

I don't think that Menard's offers that. Some of the front and back panels will probably fit but not all. Then there is the gable roof, so the end panels will all have the be cut on a 4/12 angle. I'll get a little can of rustolium and paint the cut edges. I have a Dewalt power shear which will work well when cutting the width of any panels. I don't think it will be of use on cutting crossways though. Yeah, I've heard about the noise and the mfgs don't recommend using a circular saw. Thanks
