Rifles/Assault weapons
Hello I would like to know in your opinion and knowledge, what is the best long gun/assault weapon to get. I am looking into getting one and I don't have alot of knowledge on them. Thanks in advance for your help, any websites would be appreciated. Also there is no restriction on assault weapons in NH (as far as I know). The world is a dangerous place, not because of those who do evil, but because of those who look on and do nothing.”-Albert Einstein |

The AK and AR are completely different. You will need both. Then you will need a M1A. Then you will need a FAL.

that has been reengineered and had the falling block action remove from it and replace with gas piston action. it have longer, accurized, exotic alloy barrel and he use it in competition. it very accurate weapon at ranges to 800 meter, it as accurate as little brother M110 SASS neh. btw, the version that gary have is the para version. ryo have fire this weapon and like it very much.

Thanks for the advice, why would I need both. :)

You will need more than 1, because the "Fever" will get you! More is never enough. You just need more bang in your life. LOL
DollPartzz
I already have the "FEVER". :)

the AK/AR debate is a long drawn out affair, just like the video you posted describes.Your best course of action would be some experience pulling the trigger on each one yourself and seeing how it "feels".
Either weapon works well for home defense, plinking, and such but i would give the edge to the AR for competiton shoots.
Modifying accessories are available for each as well, but i give the edge to the AR once again for the wide variety available.
Ammo for each is comparable in price and availability right now but i give the edge to the AR.
Price wise the AK is cheaper off the shelf.
So it appears i am an AR fan,so be it.Now the AK gang loves to tell stories of buried AKs pulled from the muck, shook out,and firing off a 30 round magazine without a hitch.Which is good but i believe in that doomsday scenario(for you)there are probably a few ARs firing as well.
Having said that i have both weapons on my wish list and it is a toss up on which one i will get first.

AK is more powerful.
Reaper308
7.62x39 has a heavier bullet and more delivered energy than 5.56x45, but you can get AR's in 6.5, 6.8, .308, .50 etc...
runawaygun762
What is your criteria for "best"? What will you be using it for? Yes, the 7.62x39 is a more powerful round than the .223, but the downside to that round is fewer rounds for the same weight, increased recoil, and less accuracy. It is a very effective round, but now let's look at the types of .223 ammo available to you. This is an issue not often discussed by civilians when comparing the two rounds, but it should be. You are not bound by any sort of law of land warfare like service members with military-issue weapons. I think if you take the Extreme Shock 55 gr frangible or, even better, the 55 gr Hornady V-max round, and compare them side by side with the best 7.62x39 round, at any range, you'll like the results. One military-style rifle will be enough, and though you may have the desire to buy lots of different ones, I'd suggest finding one and getting really good with it. "Beware the (wo)man with only one gun"
Reaper308
I agree with the "one gun" comment, but after you get "really good with it", why not get really good with something else? I think the quote should be more like "beware of the (wo)man who can pick up any weapon and run shit"
runawaygun762
It largely depends on your finances and priorities. I am anxious for the day I can buy an M1A Squad Scout rifle, and consider it superior to the M4 in every way but ergonomics for me. But there's an awful lot of support gear that goes along with any weapon system if you wish to maximize its potential, so it will probably be some years before I buy one. As for getting really good, then moving on, that may be a good idea for competent people, but remember, we are talking about a woman here.
Nitris
but here goes. For a blast and fun buy an AK......but be aware of which to buy.. Rissian if possible but other wise Galil, Valmet, Polytech, Norinco, Hungarian, Polish, Bulgarian, Yugo are your better aks......Romanian........er.......not so and avoid and thing with B-West made in USA on it.
For accuracy above 150 yards well AR Top names Armalite, Colt, Bushmaster, Olympic, RRA, DPMS, Stag arms, DSA, and many others.
either way buy both and you'll be happy............and NO YOU CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH GUNS.

and pops just purchase one for ryo at gunshop last saturday too. of course it so much like an AR it almost hard to call it an AK, demo ryo in love with this rifle and have want one for long time and finally going to get one! the Swedish make AK 5 Basic from Saab/Bofors. hai hai it base on the FN Herstal FNC, demo there are significant differences to the AK 5 and the FNC. for one thing it longer range than any other AK out there except for the new Galil sniper rifle. the one ryo is getting is the Designate Marksman's rifle version with the long barrel that is make from the exotic alloy boroaluminumnitride, which is the strongest known metal alloy in the world. hai it cost extra, lot extra in fact, but it worth it. never have to worry about barrel or rifling wear. you can fire hard steel bullets from this rifle and the barrel will never where out. it cost bundle, but is special gift to ryo from whole family for ryo's graduation from range safety school at our gun club. ryo is now full certified Range Safety Officer and even got very nice pay raise for part time job at range and gun club. you should remember the photo and the write up that ryo and little brother did on the AK 5 Basic. it is without doubt one of the best AKs ever make.
Your friend alway,
LittleDragon
