The R&R ticket
I personally think that Mr. Ryan as VP balances out the "ticket" for Romney, he is perceived (Romney), for the most part as a rich white guy (fine with me, had I been smarter in life, I might be in the same boat).....Anyhoo, Ryan brings a "blue collar" flavour to the campaign and I think that's a good thing IMO. Romney is a businessman and I believe that is just what the nation needs right now, not a panderer/vacationer/golfer in chief .......Just my two cents... Change you can truly believe in comes from the barrel of a gun---------------------------------------------------------------------------------Ron Paul 2012----Vote the bastards out!--------------------------------- |

Hamp! Where you been? How's it hanging?
HampsterW
keeping busy, target shooting ban in most of Utah, half the state is on fire or potentially there of due to very dry conditions.
Where I go shooting is out near the salt flats where there is nothing to set fire but I have refrained from shooting this year (except for the range), due to the ban...ne.... suggestion that we curtail our target shooting this year.
How is the new~ house treating you?
catfish88
Hey Hamp. Sorry to hear you haven't been able to shoot much. Glad you are doing fine otherwise. The house is great. I like it. Grew a small garden this year. Between cleaning, mowing and gardening, the house keeps me pretty busy. Good to hear from you.

I think you can have your password reset. Ask a mod.
Hamp, good to see you back on. How have you been?
HampsterW
work and home duties keeping me busy, how is everyone, well I trust?
Saint J.M. Browning
My son's having some health issues, but I think he's going to be OK. Other than that, SOSDD.
Just trying to keep my head above water.
Saint J.M. Browning
Back on topic, I'm liking Ryan more and more every day. I'd prefer his name first on the ballot, but maybe in 4 years, he can run as Prez.
Right now, I think you could run Mr. Potato Head and have a better candidate than Obungler.
daisycutter
Mr. Shithead ;<(
MattyTheJet
About Romney choosing Ryan, even though I'm still pretty commited to Ron Paul, but, I am warming up to Paul Ryan, especially knowing he's a shooter and hunter.
Vaquero
Any vote not for Romney is a vote for obama.
Saint J.M. Browning
Normally, I would say vote for whatever candidate you think is best, regardless if you think they'll win or not. But Obama winning is an risk America can't afford. It would be better to vote for Romney and hope we have a better choice in 4 years.
daisycutter
I know in my heart and soul that B.H. obama would have diced him up and would have made dogfood of him in the debates.
Romney is not the best debater and I think obama will give him a hard way to go in the debates.
Ryan, IMHO will shine, especially debating Mr. Wild-mouth Biden.
MattyTheJet
But I'm going to end up having to vote Romney, who I consider nothing more than proof they make Obamas in white, in the hopes that Ryan will balance things out because I would rather have him be a heartbeat from the Presidency than Biden because of all the stupid stuff that spews from Biden's mouth. Especially after that comment yesterday. Seriously, what was that moron thinking?
daisycutter
more about the man.
HampsterW
Biden is a monumental IDIOT, Christ, he doesn't know what Century he is in much less what state, truly incredible (shakes head).
HampsterW
Romney......so...so...but I will tell you one thing, I will "be dipped in shit" before I see that fukkin Obama re-elected. As others have stated, a non vote for Romney is a vote for Obama, anyone considering not voting because their man is not on the ticket should bear that in mind, food for thought, it would be a terrible disservice to your country.

If they are going to win, Romney needs to have broad appeal. He can't move to the right any farther. So unless people want 4 more years of hope and change, everyone has to show up and vote. Romney isn't my choice, but what's the alternative?
MattyTheJet
Guess I have to teach myself to love Paul Ryan.....
HampsterW
is Obama, is the short answer.
Vaquero
I missed your appearance last evening. Glad you are doing well.
How is your friend? I've been wondering for some time.
HampsterW
he is well, finished up with Chemo last week, I guess it's a "crap shoot", Steve feels better despite being basically poisoned for the last several months. That man is a trooper, no two ways about it. All is well in TX?
Vaquero
I'm sorry y'all are getting the weather and associated fires that we had last year.
Glad Steve is past Chemo. It gets better from here on.
Moving the youngest to college this weekend. I aint sure how the empty nest is gonna play out.
With me being gone weeks at a time I'm afraid momma is in for a rough time.
HampsterW
gonna have issues with "mamma", most don't deal well with "empty nests" for the first while, but sooner or later they come around to peace and quiet......Are you still 'out and about' with work?
Vaquero
Yeah. I'm in NM now. Got a month or so left. Thankfully the next project starts in Nov. so I'll be at or near home most of Sept. and Oct. I expect to be a punching bag for most of that time. LOL!
Vaquero
Bed time and a long day tomorrow.
HampsterW
tell Greg hello when you talk to him, I have missed his and other conversations during the day.
Saint J.M. Browning
You don't have to like a politician just because they're the lesser of two evils. But if that ticket is the best way to stop Obama from continuing to demolish America, it's at least a tolerable concession.
MattyTheJet
A concession I've decided to make, even though I'm far from thrilled about it.
Saint J.M. Browning
I hear you. This might be a good lesson for us all to start right now to have better choices in 2016. Maybe work with the Tea parties and other grassroots orgs to get third party choices out there.
DEMO
When I was in grad school we discussed his economic ideas. I was quite surprised that he was a young young politician. Most of the authors were from the early 1900's then the professor had so much respect for him that he referenced a up and coming economist. Ryan predicted the housing crash and pointed out the issue with government intervention with mortgage based securities. The left called him a racist that did not want poor minorities to have homes. Barney franks laughed at him......
HampsterW
42, I am 43, that man is a winner in my view, he has a head for numbers and most of his budget propositions make sense (not all)..........There is a big "shit sandwich" out there and we are all going to have to take a bite of (pirated from full metal jacket for those who don't know). It is time to "put up or shut up", you either vote for Mitt and his "magic underwear" (I am of Mormon descent), or you don't vote/vote for some "fringe" candidate, either way, it IS a vote for Obama, whether you like it or not. We need to band together and elect anybody, fucking Micky Mouse, anybody but Obama or our Republic is most certainly doomed.....IMO
upshot
I may not be on Romneys friends list but at least I am not on his enemys list. I know that I am on Obamas', I read the DHS memo, the only box I didn't check on the domestic terrorist list was returning vet. In a crisis situation are you comfortable with Eric Holder, Janet Napolitano, and the rest of O's ultra left wing Czar squad making the emergency decisions and enforcing the emergency policys?
Beyond that, an economic crash is a when, not an if. A change of administration will delay it but it's too late to avoid it. Even under ideal economic conditions, digging out from under 16 trillion in debt would be a tall order, the interest alone will kill us. The average interest we are paying on treasuries right now is very near 1% and is being held at that artificially low rate due to FED manipulation, there is a limit to how long they can keep this up. A 1% increase in the interest paid on our debt would be a serious problem, 2% would be a crisis, and 3% would be catastrophic. The average rate paid over the last twenty years is about 5%, or 4% more than we are paying now. It is a ticking time bomb, when the FED looses control of interest rates (and they will at some point), the game is over. As if this isn't bad enough, the first wave of baby boomers turned 65 last year, the near future funding requirements of medicare and social security are more than even a roaring economy could hope to produce and will swamp us. I could go on.....
OK I will..Federal spending on Medicare/Medicade, Social Security, and Dept of Defense right now consume almost 95% of federal revenues, basically everything else that the federal government does is being paid for with either borrowed or printed money.
Plan accordingly.

Starting with Matty.. laughed at this..St. is this QOD worthy..
I'm going to end up having to vote Romney, who I consider nothing more than proof they make Obamas in white
also Jim, hope alls going well with your son, with out pressue any update would be good,
Upshot.. welcome aboard.. great post, more of them please..
Hamp do tramp... miss ya brother, glad to hear Steves done with Chemo.. we miss ya..
Saint J.M. Browning
Absolutely QOD worthy
Regarding my son, we got more bad news. He went to the wound clinic yesterday to have his wound repacked and get set up for a new wound vac. Anyway, the Dr. at the clinic has put him on bedrest until healed. Can't even go to school now. He has to lay on his stomach except to go to the bathroom. Wife is amazing and taking care of things real well. One of the things I love so much about her. She is taking absence from work for 12 weeks to try take care of the lil' man.
She went to the school to take care of his absence and found they have a program to send tutors periodically to keep him up with schoolwork. The football coaches were great. He was just going to watch practices and scrimmage and learn all he could from the sideline, but since they found out he is stuck at home, they gave him access to the site they use to view videos of scrimmage and practice, etc. Pretty cool, I thought.
Wife bumped up the time for the consultation on his bone tumor and had that already. The main Dr. (talked with Asst. before) is more concerned about it than we were previous lead to believe. Dr. wouldn't push up time for surgery as wife wanted, as he is recovering from cyst surgery. She was upset as this may require more time out for him, and more time without work (and pay) for her.
Kinda in a down turn right now, but I am fully expecting a reversal of fortune.

Just remember footsteps in the sand.
MattyTheJet
Well, good to know that with all the icons getting quoted on the internet: Reagan, Patton, Paul Ryan, Chuck Norris, et al, that lowly little Matty can get a QOD!
StJMB, best wishes for your son, I hope for a speedy recovery for him to return to his regular life and especially the football he obviously loves. Your wife is clearly an exceptional woman, making you exceptionally lucky,
