Anybody out there own a Ruger SR9? After shooting a buddys I ordered one. Democracy is two wolfs and a sheep voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well armed sheep contesting the vote. |

He loves his and I really liked the way it shot, but after reading some blogs and looking at some other sites it seems like love it or hate it. Any thoughts? I thought I would get mine today but the guy hasn't called me yet.
What about +p ammo? Safe to use in this gun? Really don't know that much about it

The introduction of the SR9 has been similar to the intro of the first Glocks, problems not withstanding. Mose either hated or loved em, I wouldnt buy a Glock for years cause they were plastic, well some 20 Glocks later I am sold on em. I bought my SR9 a few weeks ago, great ergonomics, much better than Glock and I own alot of Glocks. Its the bore axis and the slimness of the grip. I havent had any issues after 400 rds. Eats whatever you feed it. There were initial issues with the pistol, none of which I ever experienced but it seems they have worked those out.
I keep hearing people say, its a copy of a Glock, which it is, but so far its an improvement. Lets face it, Glocks are fugly pistols, the SR9 is a sharp gun, of course in the final analysis it must go bang, and the Glock does that well, but so far so does the SR9. Time will tell, I think its destined to be a great gun. I know I can trust my Glocks, every one of them. I now have a new one to trust, the SR9.
I love the Ambi Safety, the thin frame, the greater slide rail support and the low bore axis though I could do without the ambi mag release. I dont think its needed and I have modified mine by removing the right side of it.
After years of smithing on Glocks the internals of the SR9 are familiar indeed, feels sturdier than a Glock as well. Beefier somehow.
Anyway, I like the SR9 alot, time will tell if I fall in love with it as I have my Glocks.
