KLIMOVSK, Russia – Russia has been a major market for counterfeit music, movies and computer programs from around the world, but at least one Russian product has been pirated worldwide: the Kalashnikov assault rifle.
Russia will step up action to defend the copyright of the Kalashnikov, which is made without license by dozens of manufacturers around the world, said Anatoly Isaikin, the chief of the nation’s state arms-trading monopoly.

The Kalashnikov has become the world’s most widely distributed weapon, with some 100 million made in 60 years of production, but only about half of them are the genuine, locally made article.

The counterfeit production of Kalashnikovs outside Russia has incurred financial losses, tarnished the brand because of their poor quality and dented the country’s prestige abroad, Isaikin said Thursday.

“Their quality bears no comparison to a Kalashnikov produced in Russia,” Isaikin told reporters at a shooting range in the town of Klimovsk, 15 miles south of Moscow. Isaikin said his company, Rosoboronexport, was working to draft agreements with foreign countries that would protect copyright for Kalashnikovs and other Russian weapons.

They have the right, I reckon.
Personally I love the rifle and don't wish to say anything negative about it or it's original producer.

I'll sign later. Right now we're getting acquainted.

I think they appoint one dealer in one country and due to monopoly of the dealer and his sky high prices is the reason to welcome fake/clone products, The same things is also happening with all Western famous brand handguns in Pakistan,The simple example are the prices of Glock 17, Berretta, H&K, Sig handguns, Their prices are around US$ 3000 but chinses and Turkish manufacturers are doing free marketing, they welcome to all enquiries and export to all exporters who want to import without the monopoly of any agent. Due to friendly marketing the sale of 90% foriegn made handguns are Chinese and Turkish.
The price of Riffles are as follows in Pakistan
BushMaster X 15 U.S.A.......... US$ 5000
M4 Carbine........................US$ 7500
M17 BushMaster (Australia)........US$ 7500
M4A1 (Full Auto / U.S.A) US$ 9000
Styer AUG A1 (Austria)............US$ 10.800
SIG 552 C (Switzerland............US$ 12.000
HK G36 (Germany)..................US$ 18.000

I think the marketing staff of arms manufacturers are not working peoperly and due to monopoly of their agents poeple intend to buy fake/clone copies of famous brands

The prices you quote are incredible. Are any of these things actually selling? If so, to whom? Who has that kind of money for them?

These U.S and European brand riffles can buy only limited poeple due to high prices as status symbols, The ownership of rare available gun (or anything) is the most important to maintain our status, In the competition of high status rich poeple don't like to buy a common thing available in the market. The major buyer of these guns are Industrialist, bureaucrats, Parlimentarians and other rich poeple, In bribes poeple also use to gifts each other. But the selling quantities are very limited due to price reason,
On the other side Chinese are smoothly selling our goods dealer to dealer (door to door)and solve the need of majority of poeple,They are manufacturing in Bulk and due to Bulk manufactuing thier prices become cheaper most & competative,
I think in the future all the Americans and Europeans companies should go Bankrupt due to low selling and high costs. China will capture the world markets of more than 6 billion poeple
