I woulnt

I wouldnt think so the ALUM frame would make it lighter and mor easy to handle. thats a good qaulity pistol so take care of it and it will take care of you:)

aluminum frame

it will be lighter, therefore it will have more recoil. If you are planning on using it for carring purposes, the weight will be nice.

weight will make it harder to aim and lighter means easyer to aim

+p 38 spl ammo

use only standard ammo on the range for practice. carry only +p ammo in the firearm. the alloy frame will hold up to +p ammunition. shoot the winchester ammo 130gr. fmj for practice or the american eagle mid weight fmj rounds. good carry load would be the federal hydrashok +p 129gr. golden saber 125gr +p If you want to carry heavy rounds for defense only check out the speer lawman 158 gr +p fmj/tmj load for close range it would have very good penatration. Put a pachamyer grip on it also to help absorb recoil from the heavier loads. I owned an air weight model 642 with a ported bbl from magnport and also had a front trijicon nite site drill and inserted in the fixed front ramp i put over 5000 rounds of ammo through it without a glich. i shot the piss out of it. plus i had a tuned action. these guns are sturdier than you think. trust me i am proof of that.

+P+

Honestly I'm not sure about this one because I have never shot .38+P+. I have only put +P+ ammo through autos (glocks and sigs.) I know the .38+P should work fine and be enough to stop a person. It all depends on if the frame can handle the pressure of the +P+ round. It will definately add more recoil on such a light frame. I can ask my buddy who sells S&W's.

.38+P

.38+P is ammo. it means it is a .38 cal "plus pressure." it is loaded to higher pressure than normal .38 ammo. +P+ means: "plus pressure plus." It is the highest pressure ammo available and is normally restricted to LE use. Sometimes you can still find it on the civilian market though from police agencies who sell their overstock to ammunition distributors.

To answer your question... it depends on the firearm that you are shooting the ammo out of. the majority of .38's are DA.
