gun storage

since I am in need of both storage and a place to work on my projects other than on the kitchen table(even tho i do nice work there)i have been thinking about a pre built wooden storage shed.12x14 should be big enough and if i decide to get it I can have it built on site for 1800 bucks!I am not a nail bender so i aint even trying it myself.i am thinking that a layer of 1x2 chicken wire over the frame then the plywood siing over that would help with security.of course I would build doors and frames out of steel myself.heat is an easy answer to keep the climate right.ok,and a tgv and tunes too...

How about

a cement slab so you can have something to bolt the gun safe to. if they can get through the wall I really don't feel like chicken wire is going to slow them down much. better yet if you can afford it have a gun safe secured and hidden in a false wall or under a panel in the floor out of sight out of mind. Just my $3. worth (Thats the extra taxes on my 2 cents I have to pay in Mass)

Looks expensive

I'm not a fan of ALL firearms in a vault. What good are they for home defense? But for your stash I think you need one. The issue as I see it is not only to keep them locked up, but hidden. I think the ideal situation would be a storage shed or room or even a safe that you could not detect from the outside. It needs to be in stealth mode, even falsely labeled so that a thief would likely pass it over.

I'd love to be able to build a house from the ground up and tend to such details.

i built

a nice house once,30,000 sq.ft. 14 million with the land and besides everything you can think of in it ,one thing was a gun room behind a pressure sensitive panel off a hallway, the panel looked like the rest of the hallway(elaborate wood work, mahogany by the semi load, full wood working shop temped into the six car garage) but if you knew where it was and pushed on it the panel would open and you would enter a room about 10' x 12' from there you had to push on another panel, revealing a locked door and you would go into the actual gun storage room,he had about 2000 weapons in there, all hunting and sport type as i recall.oh yah he owns the Winnipeg jets hockey team too.

I like the idea

of putting something underground, next to the house with an exit door or tunnel to the outside, as well as steps/door from inside the house...the one model is pretty nice, no doubt expensive but good. It has the steps to an outer room complete with fold down beds, second room which is the safe/vault and a comm room, pretty sweet. I agree you wouldn't want to store all your guns in a safe/vault, but really in case of of break in, how many do you think you are realisticaly going to use?
