The bipartisan Alaska legislative panel concluded that she abused her power as Governor, by trying to have her former brother in law fired from his job as a State Trooper. Score one, for those who felt Senator McCain's choice of her for VP, was an act of temporary political insanity.

she was wrong in TRYING to have the cop fired but was not wrong for firing the person she told to fire the cop.let us not get confused here.i would much rather have the hockey mom in power than another typical politician.i cant understand why she scares everyone so much!

NOT completely correct. Yes, Alaska law does not permit her to use her position to pressure or threaten the Public Safety Director. If it were proven that she fired him BECAUSE he would not cave in and fire her brotherinlaw, that is called "wrongful termination", and it would subject Palin to possible censure or even impeachment, by the Alaska legislature. In addition, it could subject the State of Alaska, Sarah Palin, et al, to a civil suit by the former Public Safety Director, for damages and reinstatement with back-pay.

it is a difficult political situation for Mr. McCain, but I am guessing the Republican Party power guys have their hair on fire now. They might just force Palin to recuse herself, even at this late date, "for the good of the Party". It's a crap shoot, either way, but IF their data on Palin's sudden drop in popularity is serious, a good trade-off would be to get a beloved Pro on the ticket. Can you guess who would change my mind on voting that ticket?

I'm talking about ain't one of those hack politicians. He's from a poor family, and worked his way thru school. He got commissioned 2nd LT. in the Army and in 20 years or so he was a General. He's a decorated Viet Nam 2 Tour vet. He got to be the Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and a National Security Advisor, and later Secretary of State. I assure you, HE is not going to get this country into any trouble. But he sure as hell can get us out. He is one smart SOB. You probably are too young to have experienced old General Ike Eisenhower, a hellova President. Well this guy, Colin Powell would be the modern equivalent, and probably the smartest guy we've had since Dutch Reagan.
