I'm not paying the 60 bucks a month for internet in my room. I was too sun zapped from snorkeling anyway. A few Bud Lights and it was off to bed for this kid.
luckybychoice
can drink and snorkel over there, thats cool.
runawaygun762
Some people have talked about seeing bull sharks and those things are not nice. There are a lot of conchs in the water here though, so it'll be cool to bring a couple home and be able to say I got them instead of buying them from some souvenir vendor.
luckybychoice
not sure if thats spelled right but, they are damn good eating, just take a knife and wedge them off the rocks, slice them out of the shell, clean off all the black shit, and eat them raw(tastes like raw potato) or boil them for a couple minutes.Very good. Here they are a protected species and you have to have a license to harvest them(here being CONNUS),in cuba who knows.I would not like to be around a Bull shark either,i believe a surfer was attacked and killed by a Bull shark a couple weeks ago in NCal,at Stinson beach. How clear is the water off cuba?
Ebear
a word of advise....don't snorkle when your on your period.....

The e is silent - (lone) They live in more temperate waters similar to California. Australia is another large indiginous area. The water is to warm in the caribbean but conch (konk), welks, and other mollusks thrive. I lived in the Bahamas for 4 years and conch and lobster was poor peoples food. I used to trade it for cocoa puffs and Coors Light. Cereal was more expensive than lobster. lol Saw most kinds of sharks and fed several types. Mostly black tip or caribbean reef. The dive shop I worked at had a feeding dive. We wore chainmail suits and sleeved our hoses in greenfield flex. Saw Bulls, tigers, hammerhead, lemon, nurse (more people bit by these since they sleep under the ledges and people kick them or pull the tails). Barracuda are what gave me the heebie geebies. They are the only thing I had attempt to attack a diver as well. Sharks like fresh blood ebear.
Ebear
if Runs is on his period he will bleed fresh blood...if its from his anus ,,it may be a few days old.

I have quite a bit of dive experience and the only times where I was a little freaked out where when a pod of orca rolled up on us. They had a calf with them so it was pretty hairy. The dive master that we were with was sweating it. He was saying that they were them most dangerous things to be in the water with besides white sharks. Another time a 8 ft. mako rolled up on us during a ship wreck dive. We were at about 130ft. He kept coming up to us and checking us out, then bolting off, then coming back... Those things are fast as shit. I've never encountered one in person, but bulls are sketchy. Most bull attacks happen in shallow water or by fresh water estuaries where they do their breeding. They'll bump you then come back and take your leg. While we're talking about natures perfect killing machine (besides big cats) Tigers will take a bite out of anything if they're hungry, even the cum filled bloated floating body of an ebear. I wouldn't get in the water with a white shark for any amount of $$ without a underwater 20mm rifle or a cage

face to face with Barracuda and sea snakes, but i got freaked out by a school of tuna going around me,holyshit there was a bunch of them.
manu2014
Any of you spearfish? I used to be able to free dive over 100'. Shoot whatever while I was there and not blackout on the way up. I'll dig up some pics and scan them one of these days. Hamp has heard my story but my ex has most of my Bahama pics. No tanks allowed in the Bahamas. Not like Florida. We could spear the lobster though. Got to scoop them up in a walk one time. I do have a pic of that from the second day. knee deep in lobster.
Reaper308
I've never been spear fishing. I have a friend who has a house on the water in Barbados and when he's there, he catches almost every dinner. I forgot to mention that I've been around plenty of schools of barracuda myself. Manu, 100 ft free dives are pretty good
manu2014
Years and pounds ago my friend. Not been to barbados but have a friend that loves it. Almost the end of the world in the Caribbean. Not to far from Hugo. I was spear fishing with a buddy (yes Hamp I have one of those too) and had a 14' mama hammerhead circle underneath us. Scary but not as bad as the cuda's. I was looking behind me the rest of the time.
Reaper308
I can imagine the cudas would be drooling if you have a fish on the spear
HampsterW
Hemi Cuda's? 440 sixpac Cuda's?.........dipping here!.....340 sixpac Cuda's?............Awwww, you fuckers are talking about fish..(shaking head) for shame....LOL!

You guys are a lot braver than i am..distance swimmer in School, so pretty comfortable in water, but never did the dive thing.. I was swimming pretty far out in lake mead years ago, and a really large school of striped bass swam close enough that i could see them.. be lying if i said they didn't get my "full" attention, and obviously (to my knowledge anyway) there's never been an attack by bass on humans.. Just a big ol coward when it comes to things that can eat ya..
Those that i knew who were into diving said what manu or reap (to lazy to reread) said about barracuda.. Guess thier super fast to.. you guys ever see thier teeth.. got a grill like a 58 Buick..
HampsterW
My Grandfather, Was one of a handful of people who could swim around Alcatraz (timed to the tides of course, I believe that the tide runs 7 knots ~ out the Golden Gate at low tide)...I was told this story my whole life growing up and have no reason to disbelieve it considering my families maritime past...By the by, my Dad grew up in Berkley CA.
HampsterW
I predict Uncle sam has my back on this.....(he better!..lol).....There is no replacement for displacement, you can take that to the bank!!.....Okay, if I was to actually crawl out of my garage, I would find this snorkeling/diving very fun, but that cut's into my cylinder head money.....lol
runawaygun762
when I went snorkeling in Panama. not big, maybe four or five feet long, but I was digging at stuff with my knife and remember seeing a show where some woman's hand was taken off while she was scraping barnacles with a putty knife because they're attracted to shiny objects. Needless to say, i put the knife away pretty fucking quick.
People around here spearfish and when I had just gotten in the water, I saw a couple guys come out with what looked like Red Snapper (I don't know if that what they were), and thought "Great, fish blood in the water. Now I'm gonna get eaten".
The water here is fairly clear, but I've only been swimming off one beach so far. The sand kicked up by the tide makes things look grainy, like a '70s ocean horror movie, so every time I look out toward open water, I expect to see a big ass set of teeth coming at me. it's pretty amazing how many different kinds of fish there are within 100 feet of the shore, so I'm really contemplating doing the scuba classes here to be able to see more shit.
