I want to get a 16 barrel with a quad rail with 1 in 9 twist., 6 position stock, a good upper receiver for my Stag lower and what type of BCG should i get. going to be chambered for 5.56. this is more of what i would call close quarters rifle. If this one goes well than i will start working on a varmint/ long range rifle, not sure the cal i will use in that one, thinking 5.56 just to keep ammo selection simple but if you have any thoughts on this as well i would love to hear them.

Get the one that fits your budget, plated would be easier to clean but more expensive. Rock River Arms is selling a plated unit for 130.00

a 1 in 7 twist will handle any round from 45 gr to 80 gr,why would you want a 1 in 9? mostly a 1 in 9 would be for a 20 inch barrel, also JP or wilson are 2 good quality BCG i have seen on gunbroker for sale,i'm sure like any parts there are more but i dig into the metalurgy now,so for a 16 inch CQB i'd go with a 1in 7,save the 1in 9 for your varmit rifle(actually look at the 1 in 8 first),thanks for posting your questions, makes me dig deeper,i was going to send ZXmike a list of parts for his build, then i started questioning myself,LOL.

In reality DPMS, Rock River, Bushmaster, Remington, Colt, and most others with the exception of high end specialty manufacturers are all going to perform basically the same. DPMS will probably be your best deal.

This is pretty much the same as asking whether Ford, Dodge or Chevy are the better choice while someone else will claim Toyota or tell you to buy a freightliner just to go the extra mile...

Stay away from the off brands, they are not worth saving a few bucks for... Just stay with trusted names and you will be good to go.

I know where good deals are on them, just e-mail me if you need any more into so I don't get into trouble on the site.
