Thankx see if this works

Hi Vicky,
Welcome to Guns lot. Sorry to hear of your recent troubles, hope all is better.
I don't really know about scopes, but I am right handed and am right eye dominant. This means that I now have to shoot with my right eye closed and sight left eyed. I taught myself with time to shoot both eyes open with my shotguns. Now just starting with handguns again, I lean over just a tad and sight with my left eye. I have been doing rather well, like that. I just picked up a 10/22 Ruger and am getting a sight for it. I tried one at my gunsmiths and was able to lean over and sight left eye with a larger eyepiece. One of good size and didn't seem to have a problem. You might want to message Reaper308, he is very good on these things.
When you get some time, if you want to, fill in your Bio.
Hope we can help.

THanks so much for getting back 2 me this fast.I actually was asking for my son,he is 35 recently and loves to hunt. He was more upset about his hunting than losing the vision in his eye.lol I told him that I would find a way if possible. His news just came yesterday so I hoped 2 pick up his Spirits. And yes I will fill out my bio. Thankx again! Vicky

it is the same as being right handed, but left eye dominant... he will just have to turn his head over more, so that the left eye is in the relief. I don't know of any special scope for this, he will just have to do the best he can with his current scope.... or learn to shoot lefty. i wish him the best.

I am extremely right eye dominant and this is the way I have to shoot. I do shoot trap both eyes open, for better depth perception. Once I started shooting both eyes open, I always break 20+ and a 24 as a high.

Vicky,
Reaper is right, but if he can not get used to tilting his head, or it makes it hard for him to keep the rifle plumb while firing, I would take the rifle to your local gunsmith and ask him if there was a way to move the scope over and still keep the sightings correct (windage and elevation). Your son might want to try out shooting left handed. It sounds like you have a great son that really wants to hunt. I bet he will overcome his problem so he can continue with his passion.

It is a long shot, but contact scope manufacturers and tell them your plight, they might be receptive and help out a smaller percentage of the population, not just your son.
