Yes jay sedler it can be done but you have to be 922r compliant meaning you have to have 6 US parts installed on the gun.

A stamped receiver AK usually has the following parts :

1. Muzzle device
2. Barrel
3. Gas piston
4. Handguards
5. Trunion (this is the front trunion, the rear trunion does not count)
6. Bolt carrier
7. Bolt
8. Receiver
9. Pistol grip
10. Buttstock
11. Hammer
12. Sear
13. Trigger
14. Magazine body
15. Mag. Floorplate
16. Mag. follower

That makes 16 EVIL parts – so you have to replace or get rid of 6 of these. The law against EVIL ensures that no foriegn (read:EVIL ) firearm may have more than TEN EVIL parts. We do not get to decide what parts are EVIL. That is the job of our omniscient goobermint. So, when referring to AK designs, refer to the above list. Replace parts on your rifle (or shotgun) so as to ensure that no more than TEN of the above listed EVIL parts remain on the finished product.

Ridiculous isn't it?

Any idea how they came up this idea or why? I have always wondered about this.

Hey Jay

I agree...more work for folks in the US...I am not against that at all. I was just commenting on the stupidity of that act, I mean do folks actually sit around and come with asinine ideas? All of these stupid ideas have other consequences, or unintended consequnces. This one worked out ok for them, but for the rest of us who don't sell the parts it's crazy!

yes sir!!!

it did work out this time...this cloud had a silver lining.yes i think there are people who sit around and come up with these ideas.notice how almost always the law does nothing but inhibit the rights of law abiding citizens?im tired of half measures and pretend fixes.if you want to stop crime make it legal to kill criminals who would hurt you...here in califuckya if i kill a person in self defence,im the first to be investigated.jail, loss of weapons ect.till im cleared and even then id be extremely lucky to get my gun back.had a neighbor who had swat storm his apartment because sombody across the street looked through his window and saw him cleaning his gun.ive seen this happen on a few ocasions...always over nothing.so yes there are bad law making idiots siting around with nothing to do,making DUMBASS LAWS.

are you refering to 922R being rediculous?yes it is...however it will only mean more american companys making parts for imported weapons.i think the govt thinks it will stop these weapons from being assembled,or posibly decrease weapons trade with other countrys.who knows.

I have a friend who sells saiga parts and accessories at gun shows. he has a website www.gunstuff4u.com but the only way you can get a hold of him now is by email. it's on the site. He sells an adapter set that keeps the trigger group in the original position but allows you to add a pistol grip and collapsing stock by replacing the rear trunion. drop him an email if you have questions.

All I need is some ammo, some water, some chips if you've got'em...

I can't imagine how you guys deal with that shit.. Storming an apt. cause the neighbor saw a guy cleaning his piece.. If the story stands as is.. Jay Im not implying your not creditable, your posts show your clearly both knowledgeable, and intelligent.. Just wondering if perhaps he had warrants are something.. Guess i just don't want to think that could happen.. Even in Cali..

WHAT COMENT WERE YOU ADRESSING WHEN YOU POINTED OUT MY POST?apreciate you taking the time to list me as a posible point of info...thanks for your faith in me.im telling the total truth.heard sombody on my roof, that happend allot with neighbors locking themselves out ect........long story.id have to go into great depths of layout and position of the building ect for you to fully understand the situation.anyway,a friend called and asked whats goin on in my building.didnt undestand what he meant.he told me "there was a swat team there earlier, what happend?"long storry short my neighbor was unloading and cleaning a double barreled shotgun he always kept loaded.(his son was under 18,and was going to visit him.he always unloaded and cleaned his gun beforehand)someone across the street saw him in his 2nd storry apt window and called the cops saying he was pointing his gun at them.(shortly after 9-11)swat came and stormed my whole building.this is no joke!!!!!!if you want further info ill give it.I also know a guy who had his shotgun taken away in his home because he and his girlfriend broke up and his parents called the police, thinking he "may be suicidal"because he was unhappy and generaly depressed when they spoke to him last, and he was not accepting any calls.he WAS NOT...he was arested and taken to the county mental health facility, where he volantarily took a pshychiatric eval, and was shown to be (a regular human, who caught his girlfriend cheating on him)blablablablabla!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ive got lots of first and secondhand stories from people i know well/or grew up with.anyone want more info on aything ill GLADLY let you know what my state and COUNTY are doing.
