I myself hate the rain, but Idk about all of you.
Do you shoot in the rain? is it at all different from shooting in the wonderful glow of the sun? I've tried to shoot in the rain but my scope got all fogged up and it was just bad..

aaaaanyway the point of this thread is to discuss shooting in various weather conditions, if doing so actually is beneficial, what weapons better function in said conditions, etc.

elgoo, you are in the

wrong State for not liking rain....lol... I tend not to shoot in the rain if I can avoid it but at the same time I don't let it stop me either, there have been times when I have been out in the desert shooting when the afternoon thunder bumpers roll through and I just keep plugging away.

I know

Oregon is rain central, so is florida where I lived for a while, virginia wasn't too bad, but you cant shoot in 40 inches of snow (I move around a lot, go where the money is, ya know?) but yeah, I havent been doing much shooting lately, but ironically last time I shot it was 2 rounds out of my gpas .300 wm in a snow flurry, we were sighting it in for elk season, didnt see a damn thing btw.

rain

most of the time I dont go out if its raining only because I don't want to get wet if I don't have to, but I have plenty of times before. I have no problems with most of my guns getting wet. They will still run fine, they wont melt. Like hamp said, if it starts raining when I'm out (which doesn't happen much in AZ) I'll keep shooting away. Thats what oil is for. I do like shooting in the rain every once in a while just to get some reps in different weather conditions. Who knows what the weather will be like when the wolverines reunite... Elgoo, they make defog for scopes.

Worse than rain,

this last August my boys and I headed to where we usually shoot out near the salt flats here in UT, it was a 102 degree day and not a cloud in the sky, shit! We might as well have been standing on a mirror, the reflection off of the salt coupled with the already toasty temp's was unbearable, sweat stinging our eyes, fly's everywhere......miserable, rain would have been nice, at least a little cloud cover, I'll never do that again...lol

I shoot rain or shine

Okay, that's a goddamned dirty lie. I don't shoot at all right now, because I'm in fucking Cuba, and I don't have my guns, and life sucks. But, I will probably be flying to Ft Benning, GA in the next couple months to do my DA photo for my E7 promotion packet, so I might see if there are any ranges there so I can get my cordite fix. Plus, Ranger Joe's in Columbus does THE BEST high and tight flattops. They use a Bic razor and straight razor on the sides and back. I'm gonna be in heaven for a few days.

As for shooting in inclement weather, I've never cancelled a range day unless it was already storming prior to me leaving the house. If I'm en route or at the range, it takes the hand of God (or a phone call from my wife...same thing, really) to turn me around. And then I'm moody all day long.

but when I shoot, stock prices for the reloading component manufacturers go through the roof so I have to keep it toned down a bit at home. But no shooting at all for me here. I hate my life.
