I am considering going to a 1911 something and I wanted to know what the biggest difference in the single stack to the double stack mag is ( besides the more ammo and wider grip) and does anybody know a good hi-cap .40 1911 pistol?

I'm not sure about a high cap 40 1911. But I love the 1911 in single stack and the 2011 double stack pistols. I'm looking at the Taurus 24/7 OSS pistol in 40 myself. Looks like a great little pistol.

Yes, scudrunnenrh

Yes, the Para is a P15 45acp with a 15 round magazine, plus one in the chamber for 16 rounds.

The 2011 is a custom gun. I have shot all of the Desert Eagle's and the 2011 is a very nice custom gun for the price.

i hear you mrn84d, i went with the xd .45 and it only set me back $602, those 1911 clones that are at $1000 plus are unobtainable for me

40 hi cap mags/pistols

to mrn84d, hi cap 40's pistols, cz's, xd's, glocks with after market mags 29 rounder's, para ordance p-16, kimber's polymer frame double stacks, sig p-226 in 40 s&w, usually the 40's come in 12 rounders the norm for most of your factory loadings right from the box. As for 1911's, para- caspian arms but might be pricey, other than that it will be a custom gun in 1911 that i now of right off bat. Also, i almost forgot the H&K line of 40's also come in double stack or high cap 40's as well too.

1911 frames

Hey greasypaws, it's been awhile but i've seen in a magazine where you could order frames for a 1911 but can;t remember what it was. Type in 1911 military frames and parts or custom 1911 frames on google and see what happens. Try wilson combat and or caspian frames, see what pops up. Just trying to help. Craigman
