ok, for older kids if parent say so. How are the kids to learn anything onther wise.

in another post, this is becoming an eggshell minefield. I received three PMs for upsetting Little Dragon from senior members and I'm still not sure what I did wrong. I agree with fordvg that if a parent okays it, this can be a place for children. What I don't agree with, however, is being admonished for being the exact same way I have been since joining. Look, if a parent thinks his/her child is mature enough to take part in discussions with adults, that parent should not be upset when that child is exposed to adult conversations. Seems simple enough to me.

We all know what is posted here and as long as a parent is involved in supervisory role for their children then it shouldn't be an issue.

I don't think there should be an age requirement to be on here, as we should allow young people to be exposed to the gun culture, but this is an adult site based on the content you find on here. I have no problem with kids being on here, as there are many open-source websites less suitable for children, but nobody should have to change their conduct because of the presence of minors. i won't, and won't make any apologies for it. Apparently that makes me a bad apple. Oh well, doodie happens.

I have a Son that my wife and I adopped. He was one of 16 of our grandchildren who is almost 10, there are a lot of things I show him , like the "Courtisy of The US Marines, where the guy is in the street with the rocket launcher, and taken out by a Wounderful US Marine. And the perfect traning vedio of the 'Dumb Ass" kid Playing with the hand gun and it fires and hits Dumn Ass in the head, and scares the HELL out of him. Dont Play With Guns! Good Training for any age! The Irickie wedding, where the father shoots a pistle in the air, good spot for training, then the little kid picks up the pistle points it at dads gut and fires BANG!! Good traning! Dumb ass dad left the gun in reach of the un trained child! Dad FUCKED UP Didn' teach the kid "NEVER TUCH MY GUNS!!!. I show him lots of stuff for that pourpose. However the nudity, and ezplizzzit miterial is not for his eyes or mind! This why I would not want the stuff on the SITE. So I need to train him not to look up stuff on this SITE, on his own. This traning falls totly upon me.

I show my boys certain videos and pics on here, but I find the ones I want them to see..call 'em in, let 'em watch, then shoo 'em back out. Showed 'em the bouncin' titties vid..mom didn't think that was funny, but hey..they're 16&12..I'm pretty damn sure they check out all the bouncin' titties they see on their own..so what the hell. They're both planning military careers, so I show em alot of the training vids..tactical tutorials, but I don't let them read most the postings on here. Want you're kids here..pick and choose what they see...you're the parent.

but I will NOT put up with being chastized for not being politically correct because a kid posts on here--either by parents or mods. If it gets to the point where people start telling me how I'm to treat another member, then I am flat out of here. I've seen this kind of thing happen on other forums where people take themselves and their police powers a little too seriously and the whole thing spirals out of control and falls apart. When you cut a deal on the side and then expect everyone to follow in lock-step without question, I think you are asking for trouble. I don't care for special dispensations because I think it amounts to favoritism.

This is not the only gun site on the Net. People have a lot of choices of where to go to learn and participate. I like to think that one of the attractions about this place is the camaraderie that has developed and the effort that has been put into the site by the members. If you start picking on people who have made this camaradeie happen, then it's going to go away.

I do not like the way this situation has been handled by the heirarchy here. I really don't. So I'm in Condition Yellow for this site. I've decided to let this one go and attempt to keep on participating as usual in the hopes this is a one-time aberration and not a pattern. I've disabled PMs to protect myself--and others. One more time and I'm gone. I don't have to take this shit. Period.

what "situation" are you talking about? No one (that I am aware of) has told you how to act or that you have to be PC. What "shit" don't you have to take? I don't get it. It sounds like you're taking a shot at the developers and mods of the site. I would like to know where you're coming from.

I say this site is open to anyone who wants to come here and is mature enough to handle our "shit" and have intelligent firearms discussions. If you're can't handle our "shit" you shouldn't be here, no matter what your age.

or am I just not understanding here? I've never corresponded with either Marvin or Quinton. All I can react on is the site itself. I think there are a couple of technical glitches on the site, but they aren't terribly serious. It's an interesting way to build a forum and a little different than your standard out-of-the-box setup. That's one thing that makes it endering. I really don;t know how to parse all those explanation points. Sorry.

if you're referring to the incodent where one of the new members was upset by a few comments on his thread.... No one told anyone (again, that I'm aware of) that they had to be PC or how they HAD to act. There were no "side deals" cut. I sent a PM to one of the people involved and just asked that they be aware of the emotional condition of the other member. that was it. I never said that anyone did anything wrong. I never said that anyone had to change. I have never censored or deleted anyone's posts besides nimrod, for their beliefs. I don't believe that anyone has ever told YOU how to act, so I still understand what shit you're having to put up with.

You need to read and comprehend this thread as well as the one on eggshells a few days ago. Understand what runaway, greasy, and I are saying. I cannot believe that after reading what the three of us, and some others, are saying that you still don't understand. I won't go so far as to say this is a willful misunderstanding because, unlike ssrs10, I can't read your mind and I don't know what you are actually thinking. If you really still don't get it, then I have to question why you are in your position, not that I have anything to say about it, of course. But it strikes me that whether you want to be or not, you are in a position right now where with insight and comprehension, you can move this site along to greatness, or you can watch it fall apart. I think the key is in your hands. Just my opinion, of course.

If I may make a suggestion, why don't you, the other members of the Cabinet, and the owners get together and have a little chat about where you all want to take this site? I think it would be really helpful to the membership if you all were on the same page.

I let my youngest whose 18 look at one joke on this site but I would be worried about a 10 year old seeing some of our comments, also we would have to be more careful about what we said. Perhaps it's worse if children from home with no firearms see this because they think it's glamerous to use a weapon, children of military, security/law enforcement, or homes with firearms in see weapons in a different way, as a tool for a certain job not as a toy.

I may post something else on this later but I want to think first on the best way of saying it.
