Sitting Here Cleaning Guns.........
Cleaning up after my range outing this past weekend! Got the Glock 19, Kel-Tec, and Mossy done. Working on the SKS now........What The Hell is this thick goey shit al over this rifle? This is my first old rifle.......is it normal? "Two flags fly above my land that really sum up how I feel. Shak, yes it is normal, cosmoline is used to preserve the rifle from rust during long term storage. One of the Nagant's that I have comming is still covered in the shit, Reaper says that boiling water is best to remove the stuff without fucking up the furniture.

Yea it's nasty stuff alright but does a good job.
Got an old 1945 Lee Enfield #5 MK 1 jungle carbine. When I got it is was a solid blob of cosmoline, boiling hot water & a stiff bristle brush, along with a lot of elbow grease did the trick.
Wood was a different story, had to bleach it, took about a month but came out with the most beautiful Tiger Tail Walnut I have ever seen. Good luck
