So I was sitting here, picking my nose....

And I started wondering. Is it possible for a hacker to go into your computer and turn on your webcam without you knowing it? Mine's built in and there's a green light that comes on when I use it, but is it possible to disable that light and record remotely? I admit to being paranoid, but that doesn't mean they're not out to get me. Any computer-smart people able to weigh in on this. Damn it, now I have to tape up the camera AND wear my aluminum foil hat. Things are getting complicated.

runaway, I know the Macs can do it.

Had a case here in Green Valley, jackass stole someones new mac and tried to use it. Unauthorized use and it will take your pic, email it and then shut down the puter, once you report it stolen. They caught the punk. Anyway don't know of anyothers that do it but I think they are watching. Please stay clothed I can't imagine those pics on you tube...lol

I know several hackers who could watch you at any time

and yes it's easy to hack a puter can you get an IP yep your hackable.

But can they shut the light off?

I know if I see the light I'll just switch off the modem and take the PC in to a computer repair shop, but can they remotely disable the light? I can't figure out how to do it from this computer, but then again, I hunt and peck when I type and I thought I was Bill Fuckin' Gates when I figured out how to defrag my system.
