I don't agree with Peta or their tactics, but I have to wonder about that.

If you are as young as you say you are, which I don't believe, then in your schooling, you have never had anything but a liberal teacher and academics. That quote has been attributed to Disraeli, Churchill, Bork, Georges Clemenceau, Dean Inge, etc. They may all have repeated and misquoted it to serve their own purposes, but it actually comes from the French philosopher Francois Guisot (1787-1874): "Not to be a republican at twenty is proof of want of heart; to be one at thirty is proof of want of head." The word 'republican' does not refer to the American Republican party, of course, the same way the definition of 'liberal' has changed over the years. Guisot was discussing the excesses of the French Revolution that supposedly 'freed the people' from tyranny, then substituted a tyranny of their own worse than the original. If you read the post in which I said I had a .44 Magnum, you would notice that I was implying that I own it for the sole purpose of killing spiders. And then I said that I was joking, because nothing short of a 10 gauge slug is suitable for that purpose. Now, I'm not entirely sure how you assumed that I was saying I actually own one, since I've clearly stated that I don't own a handgun and cannot legally do so.
I have no reason to say who I am, simply because it has no purpose on this board. What, exactly, would anyone on here be able to do with that information? As for "not being honest" about who I am, I can use that logic to accuse you of not being honest about your perspective on the space race, since you never said anything about that either.

I have been to the PETA site. I too find it disconcerting on animal experimentation. It is a necessary evil, it will someday save a life.

Forgive me for sounding like one of the black helicopter guys (although I have seen them), but I believe every group out there has a sinister agenda at its core. Anti-gun organizations may be made of primarily ignorant people who think they've got our best interest at heart, but at their core are people who want the government to have total control over citizens' (subjects'?) lives. What is the core agenda for PETA? Perhaps it is to control the population of the country by allowing animals to overpopulate, thus spreading disease. But why? Do they have some super vaccine that will allow them to live through it all? Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they're not out to get you.
