I want to know if everyone thinks if the SOCOM II is worth the money. Or is there something better in the same 1500 range? I'm not even going to attempt to find an ar or m4, better lock winning the lotto while being struck by lightning.

to use it for. Are you going to war; close combat or otherwise; urban combat; home defense, ranch gun; etc. I happen to like the .308, especially in a rifle that is good at surpressing recoil.. But obviously, there are other good competitors at that price point, with round characteristics that can reach out well, but also allow you to carry more ammo.

SOCOM II

I want to do some long range targets, but I will also be doing armed security so i figured it would be good for all applications (close quarters, tactical etc..) shoukd it arise

coldfront, take your $$$ and get a hooker, it's cheaper and you can fire your little gun as many times as you like...

I mean BIG gun...

Knock down power, derived from a proven design, all the rails you could want, shortened length, tritium front sight post. It is a little over priced in my opinion, but I think the SOCOM II is a well rounded rifle for almost any situation. I would like to see one with a straight line pistol grip stock though. It would help a little with recoil and handeling.

exactly, I thought it would be a good all around rifle but definitely could use a pistol grip. The price is ok but just wondering if something would be better for the same $$$

SOCOM II

Well worth the money! Any M1 is one of the best "assault" or semi auto rifles in my opinion. The Socom II or 16 are just shorter tactical versions. They still have great range. Sell all of your Hi Points and buy the Socom!

$1,500.00 range?

I haven't seen one under $2,000.00 around here. Maybe need to head to a city. I would like to get one myself. Maybe have to sell some stuff first though. The woman just doesn't understand the need for some decent firepower by the public in todays world.

She pays way more attention to whats going out than I do. Oh well, I'll have to go get one anyway. I've got a .243 I want to get rid of anyhow.

You let her buy shoes?? Be careful with that, she ever finds out the prices of some of them guns and you may have one of those brand new shoes lodged in your ass.

Yes sir Coldfront, I agree. I took three rifles that I havent used in about 10 years and swapped them for two guns that I'll use all the time. Still havent had time to shoot either of them yet due to work, but hopefully that will change this weekend.
