Moment of hilarious! Son's Of Gun's Just built an INTERNAL Suppressor for an AK-47! Haven't heard of any other gun other than the MP-5SD having a INTERNAL Suppressor! AK-47 with Internal suppressor should be technologically impossible! But it is done apparently! Also thinking here with mixed thoughts,in one way its not appealing to me to have a "K" with an Internal suppressor. On the other hand it is a bit awesome and by what I seen on the "S.O.G" show the "K" held up to its name in the reliability and ballistics test with the suppressor.

Yup

They did a hell of a job, though I wonder just how far they tore down that HK they had loaned to them from the guy who wanted the AK's built.

No sir, he fell into that bullet... Never argue with a stupid person. They'll just drag you down to their level and beat you with experience!!

I am so unimpressed with this show that I have stopped watching it. Not only is it half "reality show drama" but they never go in depth enough with anything they do. It is not for those that want the specs and the knowledge. It is there to only show stupid ideas that have been done and are vaguely mentioned without explaining it beyond the obvious.

it seems to me that going in-depth in altering weapons would be a good way to get a visit from F Troop. Just as I'd like to see more run and gun stages in Top Shot, you'd like to see more technical work in that show. I'm happy to know there are gun-related shows that can be easily seen by the general public and I think this kind of exposure is a good start to help attract more gun owners.

integral

As far as I know, that's just an external can mounted in a railed forerend to resemble an internal suppressor. Looks awesome though.

You can hear the sonic signature when he fires it, so I assume the barrel is not actually vented a la MP5SD to slow down the bullet prior to entering the suppressor baffle area. The SD is spec'd to be fed with standard ammo rather than subsonic ammo for this reason. I've heard of at least one failure due to an MP5SD being fed subsonic ammunition.

As far as tearing down the SD....to the best of my knowledge the SD has to be sent back to H&K for service, as the suppressor is welded/soldered and not designed to be disassembled or serviced by the end-user.

I cannto envision a way to integrally suppress a centerfire gas-operated rifle in the fashion that the MP5SD is built. Venting the gas from multiple points in the barrel would rob the system of the gas column needed to operate it; for this reason many modern centerfire autos designed to be used with a suppressor have a 'cut-off' that turns the weapon into a single-shot (Larue OBR for instance).

Engel Ballistic Research makes some excellent heavy-bullet subsonic ammo for the AK and other centerfires.

Integreal Suppressor

As defined by Wiki " Another type is the "integral" suppressor, which consists of expansion chambers surrounding the barrel. The barrel is pierced with openings or "ports" which bleed off gases into the chambers. This type of suppressor is part of the firearm, and maintenance of the suppressor requires that the firearm be at least partially disassembled."
Following this definition, while maybe not as good a design as H&K.... it is still and internally suppressed AK-47.

I think they could have done a better job, being that's their business, maybe I should have or get my own TV show! Did the job but if your going to do it do it right! Funny show and not knocking them, maybe I have different ideas and expectations!

ahh yes

the ground breaking 1000 yd AK, Desert Eagle with a buttstock, dual M16 cooled by a water pump from a fish tank, the Magpul FMG knock off, the 1919 with motorcycle handlebars and painted like ebear's pinata, the swat tommy gun... which are all under military contract and have a deadline of completion in an hour. It's like watching a train wreck.

I had my hopes up for it also, not sure now... not looking good. At least its not all drama like the other show. I don't understand the customers who come into the shops on these shows. That one guy paid something like $6K? for a black powder cannon made from a cut off oxygen tank on a raggedy ass trailer. Another guy paid $11k for a used Barrett when you can buy a new one for 8k.

I guess it's all in who you known, and I don't know to many, but at least the one's I do know will cover my back side and I can sleep at night! I do have my own machine shop (not a gun shop)and some of the gunsmiths on these shows need some serious basic training! Like Jesse said " Pay up Suckers" and they do, wish I could find a few! To me, once again no offence to anyone, they kind of remind me of the old show Charlies Angles with bigger guns.

WAY good when the wife understands lifes pleasures.

Lucky, thanks for the offer.. actually the 32's i have are even MORE anemic than the 32 auto.. thiers 3 32's.. the 765 auto, 32 smith (great rouund actually) and the 32 colt.. (my old ones) .. these are like BEYOND anemic, i think you can step out ot the way if someone shoots at ya..

anyway thanks but no thanks,

on the gun front, don't know if pard said anything or not but i now have bub's old 1911.. (remington) that he took over and back on two tours, so guess im back in the 45 ownesrs club.. Don't think im going to get "real" into them again as my victorys will get all jealious and stuff...

I’m sorry folks but Sons of Gun's and American guns are two episodes that show the stupidity of gun makers by adding the drama bullshit to put a spin on it. That ground breaking 1000 yd AK was not an AK only the receiver was and as stated by many it’s the barrel that makes it a sniper rifle. Not only that but they failed to express it was also a 308 not 7.62x39 therefore not an AK round. Desert Eagle with a buttstock how stupid. Dual M16 cooled by a water pump from a fish tank give me a break what is so innovation about that? The Magpul FMG knock off, except Will’s looked like shit. The 1919 with motorcycle handlebars what the f**k is this shit? Neither show actually gives any bases to the real gun builder.

And by the way snakie poo Ruger has long made internal suppressor's for their 22 pistols and rifles. Nothing new as well as neither show has done anything new, just reworked old crap.

But American Guns just pisses me off. "Let's make a jewel-encrusted 1911 for my wife". Moron. The show makes it seem like they're on the cutting edge of weapons modification, but on the episode with the disabled vet that wanted a deer rifle, the first thing I said was "Put a vertical foregrip on a semi-auto like a Remington 7400 or even AR platform. What do they do? Put a vertical foregrip on a bolt rifle. Yeah, the gun looked cool, but for a guy who can't hold the rifle correctly, why would you use a bolt gun that doesn't use an action that can dampen the recoil?

I enjoy parts of these shows for the historical education, as I don't know very well who made what old gun and what the history is behind their development, so that part's cool, but GET THE GODDAMNED FEMALES OFF THERE!! I don't really mind the girl on SOG, but I hate having to listen to my wife bitch about how annoyed by the girl she gets. It's like, "Shut up, honey, she knows more about guns than you do.", but if that comes out of my stupid piehole, I'm fucked (or not).

I really need to put in my Top Shot application.

I have always been amazed when these folk on sons of guns actually make something that works, most of their work is no better than crap run out of a diy workshop, just crap, they also have the distinction of pushing out a competent gunsmith to sway the show into a down trodden off beat love story.

I can't tell if they really don't know how to install an adams arms piston kit, or if they just pretend like they can't to play on TV drama. I have to believe its the later because a monkey with a dremel could pull off half the stuff they do. I think Vince was the only one who could tell his asshole from his elbow. Since Will lost his FFL, they've been operating Vince's FFL and now he's gone... I wonder who they're using now. I wish Vince good luck with his new company, but that other crap is scripted for TV
