Howdy All,
Decisions, decisions, decisions - just bought a sweet KGP141 - now I can't decide between a G17, G34, CZ-75 or FNP-9 as my next child - What about a .40 or .45, that is the question?....is that a Bushmaster or Mossberg under your coat?? I'm such a newbie gun slut!
Somebody please help me!!! ---- ;-)

He told me he was home bound on crutches from his gun shooting 3 years ago. He will be out of the house and off crutches, come Jan 2009. He was shot while protecting his truck from thieves and purportedly killed one with his SAA .45. Also his wife was the victim of being shot some time back. Dangerous place this Haysi, W.VA. Maybe it is a Hatfield, McCoy thing?

What about ammo? From what I been told and read there are about as many different kinds of ammo as guns - target, self defense, home defense, competition, wadcutters, semi-wadcutters, hollow point, FMJ, reload, factory load, hot load - how does anybody learn all this stuff without going broke or blind? But, I'm having fun!

I only have 3 guns right now, because of no money. Yes, I shot all of them when I had them. I had 5 guns about 14 years ago that I shot the crap out of them. I was shooting matches 3 times a month and some months I was shooting all 4 weekends. I use to shoot IPSC pistol and 3-gun matches and run & gun using IPSC rules and sniper matches. In 1997 I shoot over 36,000 rounds by myself. I have been reloading my our ammo for the last 20 years. Rifle matches I have shoot out to 500 yards. Never could find a place to do some 1,000 yards shooting. I have a couple of places on to shoot that far, but no rifle setup for it. Hope to change that sometime next year.

Well, that answers my ammo question in your case - prob saved $20-25K over retail..??? LOL. I am finding too that there are not many places for long-distance rifle shooting which I find strange for a state whose biggest cities are Baltimore and Annapolis guess I'll have to try VA or PA???

I know PA has some long range rifle clubs. Sometimes the Marine Base at Quantico is open to the public for the 1,000 yard range.

Have you got a chance to shoot the Smith & Wessen 500 yet or the 460 Smith is making?

shot the 500 (with 6" bbl I think) once. it was pretty fun. I have always had one of those two on my wish list... but for over a grand... not to mention ammo...there are too many other guns (mostly rifles) that I need to buy first!

I'm trying to find a Remington 700 VSF rifle in 308. Gunsatcost has all the rifle except that one. Gander MTN. has one here by there want $1,096.00 for it. You know of any other places that might sale it?

not off the top of my head right now... but I will look into it and let you know. I know they have one right now at the scottsdale gun club (shooting range that I belong to). They have really cheap gun prices cause they make most of their money off of memberships. I will check their price tomorrow. I'm sure they can ship.that will be a great rifle. I love anything on the 700 platform

I'm looking at that rifle with a 20 MOA Nightforce base with a Nightforce NXS 5.5x22x56 scope on top. Should make for a great middle range gun. I still hope to buy the M310R CheyTac as my very long range gun.

isn't .50BMG quite a bit cheaper than .408? I know about the ballistics on the cheytac... and I realize you reload.... but is there that big of difference between the two rounds to cover the cost?

The only thing the 50 BMG has that is cheaper is the brass. But if you buy match brass the 408 CT and the 50 are the same cost. Plus, I can buy the 408 CT bullets in bulk and save and the only match 50 BMG bullets I can get are the Hornady 750 A-Max bullets. Plus, the 408 CT is a lot more accurate than the 50 BMG. I want something that will shoot sub-MOA and the 50 will not. Plus, the 408 CT take a lot less gun powder too.
