THIS HAPPENED IN MY HOMETOWN Teacher reportedly commits suicide at shooting range CALEDONIA — A Park High School teacher committed suicide at Shooters Sports Center Tuesday afternoon by shooting himself with a rented gun, according to Caledonia police. The 37-year-old Racine man apparently went to Shooters, 4900 6 Mile Road, rented a gun and bought 50 rounds of ammunition to shoot on the range. Just before 3 p.m., other shooters on the firing range noticed him lying on the floor and called 911. Police and rescue crews were called to the shooting range for a man who had been shot. Life saving efforts were unsuccessful, and at 3:40 p.m. the man was pronounced dead by Racine County Medical Examiner Tom Terry. The man was not accidentally shot and foul play has been ruled out, reports said. Terry said Wednesday that the teacher had left suicide notes before shooting himself in the head. The man was a German teacher at Park High School, and also taught a class at McKinley Middle School, according to Racine Unified School District spokeswoman Stephanie Hayden. He had worked in the district for over seven years. Hayden said parents of Park and McKinley students were notified of the teacher’s death through their automated phone messaging system. Counselors were made available for students and staff at both schools today, she said. The Marines I have seen around the world have the cleanest bodies, the filthiest minds, the highest morale, and the lowest morals of any group of animals I have ever seen. the conundrum I was trying to paint was the fact that if you are successful in breaking the law and caught, you are punished. As a suicide "victim" you have broken the law, what is the penalty, do you still have your right to appeal, you are dead. How can this be a law? There is no punishment to fit the crime.
