Springfield Armory EMP

Ladies and gentlemen,

I return!!! Hope everyone is well and I guess I missed a bit of drama, but I digress. I left Iraq on 8 June 2010. At the Baghdad airport, while waiting on my flight the airport was hit by three very close mortars! I actually had no idea the Iraqi insurgents cared that much about me. Oh well, there was no need for fanfare at my departure, but I really appreciated it. Those Insurgents are so CRAZY!!!

Anyway, back to guns...I have not picked up my EMP yet, because I need a Florida driver's license and other things so I can become a resident. However, I went to the gun (pawn) shop where it is being held. I got a chance to hold it, get a feel for it and just generally check it out.

It's the Springfield Armory EMP (.40 caliber) and it felt great, sights looked good on it, great balance and for anyone who does not have huge hands, this gun is a great fit! The weight is a bit more than I thought it would be, but by no means heavy. It felt SOLID. I can't wait to pickup and fire. I should be able to get it end of next week or so after I close on my house. I can't wait to finally get settled. After 2.5 years in the middle east it is good to be home. However, the three burka clad women in Eglin BX today was a bit disconcerting...it really surprised me!

Once again...hope everyone is well and feeling great!

Also: I picked up and felt the Warthog from Para Ordnance and also the Para P14/.45...felt great too, I can see myself back to get some more hand guns.

Yeah

I am sure it does, because my hands are not big at all and when I picked that gun up, it felt small to me, so surely that must be a concern. I haven't shot it though.

Hey hillbilly

It was nice to see America again and know I am going to stay for
an extended time...my time overseas was beneficial, but just being
able to jump in my truck, go get a beer, hit the beach
and see the beautiful women down here in Florida is definitely a
plus...in addition, once all my
guns get here I will have them to fill my time. I am looking for
a safe--anybody have any they really like or one they don't
particularly care for? I was looking between 1200-2000, which
seems like a fairly middle range quality and I see they can go
as high as 5000 dollars or more! Any suggestions would help...thanks!

he is in Paris,KY(local for me).He has reasonable prices.I bought my first safe from him, actually looking to get a larger one. They are cheaper now than when I got mine.I perfer electronic lock.I had one go bad and then are cover by lifetime warranty.Lucky Greenleaf and Sargent(lock manufacturer) is locally made in Nicholasville,KY and was quickly able to get replaced.Don't know if I will sell my older one or use as ammo locker, with the way ammo prices are running now.
Safe prices themselves are now cheaper because everybody wants one(actually needs one).I have had mine for over 15 years and can get one twice the size for half the money.
As far as price goes it really shouldn't come it play.I have guns that cannot be replaced for various reasons. And bigger is better than too small.I went with the fancy paint job and gold plated handles....all this is not going make you sake work better.Besides once you have fire,it has to be replaced anyway(if fire is in same room).Hope this helps you out.

Welcome back stateside! I got a buddy from Ft Walton, just shipped out to Afghanistan.
National Guard. On safes, well, I've only had the one. I suggest getting a bigger one than you need. Mine seems a bit small and it is not at capacity.

You may be right Vaq

I think I could fill out the smaller one in short order...maybe I need to go up a bit, to around 2K, it will be worth it if someone breaks into my house or a fire I guess.

Thanks
PKato

Afghanistan is turning into a nightmare...what does you buddy do?
