The XDm is illegal in Kali (dumbasses) so that one is out of the question. I may have to resort to other contacts to get what i really want but we'll see.

Big time, now i don't want to scare you off from your choice, that;s what i have had personally happen, but i am also on 2 other gun forums and the general consensus is not in favor of the XDs,FWIW.If you can shoot one in advance of buying it,i'd do that.

Bob Moon is on.. Robert what is the Star 9's designation.. Not the firestar, talking the old 1911 copy..

At any rate this is almost the ideal 9mm.. Imagine if you will a 1911 light weight commander and your close..

The Star might be a tad smaller overall.. but its a 1911 copy from stem to stern, and all steel.. Has a 9 (if my memory is right) round magazine, so 10 if carried condition 1..

Just a great little auto, and i've never heard a bad word about them.. strip down like a 1911, and besides everything else thier pretty reasonable.. The only issue is not a double stack mag like the model 35, but im guessing from Mikes post that Cali's laws dont allow that anyway..

Somebody was talking the other day about being able to CC a 1911, this would be about my first choice for that..

On the Springfield, i liked the XD 40 my son-n-law had, and disappointed with the little Beretta (also 40) he traded it for.. might more concealable, but to small a frame for the 40, and hard to control in double taps..

Star

There is the regular B series (full size like the reg 1911) or the compact models BM or BKM and BKS. From what I understand they were basically 1911 copies but not clones, their parts do not interchange.

Star pistols

Star's 9mm and 45 acp Model P are dead nuts accurate and very solid weapons without a doubt.

I've shot a few different Knock-Off's and all are done very well, some are even contract guns made for Colt in the various regions they are manufactured in.

Here is one site where you can pick up one of the copies at a decent price and have a fantastic shooter that is a bit different than the normal 1911..

I was disapointed we didn't do it this year.. i really would like for a group of us to try and get together in the spring.. That looks like a good area for most, and is supposed to be beautiful, i know when Gloria and i looked at it last time we were stuck by how pretty the country is around there.. and between the center, and angel fire.. I'm thinking has a lot of intrest for all..

I know this much we have to MAKE this happen or its one of those things that just gets talked about.. and really would like to see it happen..

XD's

I've shot plenty of them and didn't have any issues that some people report. They were pretty smooth. I'm not a huge fan of the grip safety, but thats personal preference.

I have XD's and......

I have not had a single issue with eother of them. I have the 5'' tactical in 45acp and the 3.8 XDM9mm. They have shot any ammo I have fed them and have never had a single jam.

I love my wife's XD

Like Raper, I'm not much on the grip safety, as I can't imagine a use for it, but I've had no issues at all with reliability in hers. Having said that, I've only put 150 or so rounds through her gun that I can remember, so that doesn't say a whole lot. I agree that you shouldn't get a Glock. If you're a trisexual meskin union "worker". Those types should not have reliable, accurate guns as they could be a threat to normal folk.

XDs are very comfortable and have been around for a long time for a good reason.

Hey Mike... It's been a while...

I would recommend considering the XD9 since the .40 in my humble honest opinion is not worth the extra increase in ammunition cost, and the added velocity make for further collateral damage when your round goes through your target and hits someone/something else...

The reality is that the 9mm is a great round and any more power makes the already powerful 9mm overkilled...

Give me a call and I will hook you up on the XD though... You know my number...

I have the XD Sub Compact 40 cal. I have the 12 round mags. More grip and better control. Awesome gun. As for all over the place....yea all over the bulls eye. Also have the XDm in 9mm. Another awesome gun. Throw your Glocks away and buy a Springfield XD or XDm your will not regret it.

My XD ......

has been impressive out the box. No issues what so ever. Got the XD .45 acp 4 inch on a Thursday took her to the range that Saturday. After 300 rounds down range and hitting a 12inch paper plate at 7, 10, and 15 yards consistantly with the cheap target ammo. i figured i'd made a decent purchase. plus it came with 3-13 round mags to boot... imho i'd say buy it and see for yourself...

It's been a long hard road. but I'm still truckin!!

XD's I actually liked very much, but the XDm is something totally different. I do not care for the feel of the grip much and the trigger was kind of clunky on the ones I have shot...

The XD on the other hand had a very smooth trigger and a nice feel to it. I have a issue with the grip safety on most weapons without a memory pad/speed pad on the grip safety so I can not complain about it too much. Mainly because of how high on the back strap I grip the weapon into the web of strong my hand and how high on the frame my weak hand thumb rests. The heal of my weak hand ends up under the heal of my strong hand thumb so the grip safety does not always engage. No Pop, no good...

When I unholster my right drops to my weapon and my left hand turns out so the thumb is pointing directly at my target with the hand up cloes to my chest. Then I turn my right wrist leveling the weapon and pull it into the center of my chest pressing the frame up against my left thumb and I finish my two hand grip then punch it out to my point of aim.

Some where in all of the I fail to engage the grip safety 5% of the time which is 5% too much...

soooo...

Good weapon but not for me
