Strangest LE story.
I was driving my wife and kids home from supper. We lived "out a ways" at that time.
Before I exited the Interstate, I noticed an unusual amount of State and county LE up ahead.
After the last turn I also saw 6 LE cruisers just past my house. This was open country, no other houses on my side of the road for about 2 miles. I pulled past the driveway and off the side of the road where the LE were all standing at the fence to our place and staring into the darkness.
As I rolled down the window, I heard someone shout " turn off those damn lights!". I killed the car, and one officer approached. "What are you doing?" I was asked. I responded, very kindly mind you, "that's my house" pointing over my shoulder about 150 yds back, "this is my property" I said pointing into the darkness toward the Interstate (2 miles away).
What is happenning?. Well, We got a stealth escort home, into the house and a sweep of the outbuildings. WTF? After, one officer stayed in the house with my family, I was asked to return to the previous area, with the remaining cops. OK, (what am I gonna say at this point?) I'm ready to go McGuyver and shit! COOL! Anyway, next thing I know, I am on the fence with the rest of em, thermal imaging equipment in hand, explaining, "thats a cow, thats a large mesquite tree holding heat at it's core from the evening sun, thats a 69000 volt line, etc, etc." .
Turns out a state trooper pulled over a car, the passenger hopped out and ran due north toward our house. Adrenalin!, the guys had to talk me out of spotlighting the whole damn place with varmint rifles. All in all, we really slept well that night. I do know he was caught, I don't know when. We sure had "regular patrol" that night.

nganga

Did some forensics on an nganga. The nganga (also preuda) is a cauldron central to several syncretic Afro-Caribbean religious traditions, a few of which figure prominently in criminal drug/gang/kidnapping circles in some regions.

This one, in addition to many of the regular symbolic religious items and animal bits, had the remains/skull of an Hispanic female inside. The agency that found it had little to go on, so myself and an associate from out of state processed/photo'd/detailed the thing for them. County ME got the remains very quickly and refused to allow any further exam.

Seen plenty of weird crap; used to teach classes and run investigations of ritual crimes....but the cauldron out there by the side of the road in plain view was really unusual. These things are usually kept very secret, and if they're moved or disposed of after assembly it's done in a very specific and reclusive way. It was put there for a reason; just extremely unusual for it to be done.

Well, I'll have to say. That's the oddest title to a comment I've seen. I thought you were calling badgirl there for a minute.
