stupid shit that works

OK guys, and gals. We all got something to offer here.
You know, the "off the wall" type stuff that works in a pinch., sometimes as good or better than you imagined.

Knife sharpening.
Roll your truck window down till you got a couple of inches of glass exposed.
Use the top edge of the glass as you would a stone or steel.
It works as well as any, and you dang near always got one handy!

Anyone else?

quicker cooking!

Use the 'turbine' side of a Turbo, I would wager that you could sear a steak on it, if you don't mind a bit of iron.
(edit) due to Budweiser Hamp couldn't remember that the 'turbine' is the hot side and 'compressor' is the cool side of a turbo.

Good way to warm up a Poor Boy sandwich, too. Except the cheese leaked out of the aluminum foil and started smoking. Never did get that off the manifold. 1957 Ford Fairlane 312ci w/ a 4bbl holley.

When ever i bike camped, which was usually about 2 maybe 3 times a month (before Gloria) i would always have Harley Potato as a staple.. pretty simple.. triple wrap a big boy in foil, and wedge it between the cylinders.. saves a lot of time at the camp site, and goes great with a can of anything on the fire pit..

Speaking of cans of anything.. i loved it when they came up with the pull top cans, talk about easy camping.. they make a perfect "bail" when you pull them half off.. This was up there with sliced bread to me..

you can boil an egg in a paper cup by putting it right on the campfire, the water keeps the cup from burning up. Also I have heard you can cook fish fillets by triple wrapping it in foil and putting it in the dishwasher, haven't tested this one yet.

Nothing is as risky as certain failure.
