Sweet shots

I went to the range this weekend to dial in my AR that went real smooth was easy to dial in and accurate to 200 yards open sights no problem. I was happy with that. My seven year old was shooting his 22 and got prety good, (this was his first time). For fun I decided to shoot at a 200 yard GONG with my glock 17 while my friend watched through a spotting scope. Out of 17 shots I hit it 6 times. My friend was shocked and tried with his 1911. He had to aim 6 feet above target to even get close. he never did hit. Was just kinda a cool story and made me like my glock a little more. My friend always makes fun of it since its a little 9mm :).
BTW the 'Gong" is about 2 feet in around, so a fairly large target.

I love these 9mm versus BIG gun stories. Most people don't realize that a 9mm is an almost flat trajectory to 100 yards.

yeah

I truly had no idea which one would be more accurate at that range. I aimed at the top of the target and hit it about center. so I was loosing about a foot in 200 yards. Kevins 45 struggled to chuck the bullet 200 yards ..lol
I noticed last weekend with my POS Highpoint carbine that 9mm was dead nuts on at 100 yards.

I am shooting some cheap ass Lilly ammo and it seams one in 20 of those things will go WAY off target. But for 9 bucks a box (50 per box) who can argue for target purposes.

200 yds with 9mm

is not a good 9mm vs big bore argument. Not much defensive shooting going on at 200 yds. And try a 9mm at 500 yds. bet the .44 Mag does better.

I did not argue from any stance. I could care less to be honest. I can say at 500 yards with a 45 I could stand out there and probaly catch the bullet if I could see it.

blah,blah,blah.

9mm vs. .45 vs. .40 let's talk bullets. i am back in the reloading game after some years. i have always been fond of hornady jacketed. what's the favorite for 9mm or the .45 acp? need haevier than 115's for the 9? i'm thinking 185's for my sig 220's. like i said i like hornady, anybody out there with some insight?

try 124 gr Speer GDHP or Rem Golden Sabre for the 9mm. I'm getting back into reloading as well, primarily 9mm and 223. When I get some good loads worked up for my G19, I'll post them.
