Taken, the movie
I just watched a movie called"taken". In a nutshell, lots of shooting, decent drama, no clear "good guys". Bad cops, bank robbers, russian mobsters. No real winner, lots of losers. The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth! |

Vaquero
The American. With George Clooney
CharlesW
on history channel.
They brought up everything from Hop A Long to
Little House but not a word about
The Lone Ranger wonder why
Vaquero
That's a dang good question. I saw the show, I think. Had a good bit of Gunsmoke and Michael Landon in general.
And Fess Parker as Davy and Daniel.
CharlesW
Not a word about the Ranger
I lived and breathed the Ranger as a kid
Vaquero
Yep, I kept waiting on Roy and The Lone Ranger to be mentioned. Wagon train, Branded, etc. I guess it had to make money and be "cutting edge" to be considered.
CharlesW
Don't remember seeing Branded though.
They were a bit picky it seems.
Had a bunch on Gunsmoke but look how
many guest stars were on it.
Burt Reynolds start also
Vaquero
I don't recall Roy or Rowdy.
fixxer72
Wasn't it Eastwood that played Rowdy Yates?
Vaquero
Yep,that was a young Clint Eastwood. Pre spagetti western.
CharlesW
Burt Reynolds played a half breed black smith on gunsmoke
CharlesW
didn't have a big crush on Miss Kitty ?
Vaquero
Man she was hot!
CharlesW
a hot blooded Texas boy LMAO
Vaquero
What's the weather doing there? I'm still in SE Oklahoma expecting 6" of snow in the morning.
CharlesW
Winter mix 33 hi tomorrow, 15 tomorrow night
CharlesW

Vaquero
In spite of likely not working tomorrow, I'm gonna hit tha hay. I'm tired and my eyes keep slammin' shut. I enjoyed the visit guys.
CharlesW
Have a good one
Ishootdaily
Now that was a Western Series!!!
lol
Rawhide was pretty good too.
luckybychoice
we had to sit on the floor and be very quiet if we wanted to watch gunsmoke with my Grandfather down in Oklahoma city, same if the Cowboys were on,he kept a yard stick near by to whap us with if we got loud during his show,we learned respect that way,i got no problem with that at all.
CharlesW
My grand daughter will make at least 20 trips
past the TV in a one hour program.
Bugs the crap out of me.
I get this wimpy "I'm sorry" if I say anything.
luckybychoice
we got ONE chance crossing of the TV,then POW,any other effort to cross resulted in banishment from the room, usually for the rest of the night.
CharlesW
Nick Adams as a post civil war confederate
trying to get home
Snake
Watched 2 movie recently on the AMC channel. "The quick and the dead" wich to me is a 6 out of 10 since I aint a big fan of Gene Hackman. And secondly I watched "Tombstone" which I give a 3,000 out of 10 lol....in other words it was friggin AWESOME!!!!
Mark3030
which one Costner or Russel
Snake
Kurt Russell
Mark3030
i like Russell both are great moves but i think Russell does a better job of acting
Snake
And not to long after that he played the role as SNAKE Plisskin again in Escape from L.A. which is one of my Favorite Movies also.
Mark3030

Snake
True Grits the name and no havent seen it yet. Belive it or not my name is Jonwain (John Wayne) but I am no movie star lol. John Wayne Movies are awesome!

Ebear
we had a john wayne in chicago about 25 years ago.....he raped and killed young boys......i don't think he gave autographs
Snake
Yep John Wayne Gacy. Wasnt that back in the late 70's early 80's? He stuff all the dead bodies under his house? Sick Bastard he was!!! And Still is a Sick Bastard!!!!!
Ishootdaily
I was up in Arlington Heights about that time when they was pulling his house apart...
Ebear
i worked for a guy who lived right behind his house.....never suspected a thing.Gacy was into constuction so no one thought the digging was unusual.
Ishootdaily
Summary Execution on the spot, 20 cents for the round and 10.00 for the bag to put him in. There is a place they could get funding for First Responders....
Ishootdaily
Wasn't that another one? I think that was the one Gramps and I used to watch. High Noon, Hondo, and just about everything John Wayne...
hell, not a Western, but COMBAT and Rat Patrol !
hehehe... damn, seems like a life time ago..
Vaquero
I just finished that one again. I like it cuz the main characters are men of honor and their word is good. "I warned 'em!"
luckybychoice
is the name of the movie Vaq? whos in it?
Vaquero
Ed Harris and Viggio Mortensen, Rene Zelwegger.I might have misspelled some of those!
luckybychoice
i'm gonna check that out,Ed Harris is a good actor
Larry Wagner
That's a good movie Jerry, & your right, Ed Harris is a good actor.
Vaquero
Not much of a movie. Didn't hold my attention very well. Slow moving with a forseeable ending. About an American hit man in Europe.
Vaquero
Yeah, I just saw it for the 1st time. I enjoyed it. Fast paced, lots of action, possible but not likely. Nope, I can't tell ya the make or model of a single gun they used. They all went bang so I was satisfied. My Highlander heritage made this one just a wee bit better for me!
Shakleford
A great one for sure......There is a second one called Boondock Saints: All Saints Day. Not as good as the first, but worth a look!
Vaquero
I'll keep an eye out for it.
luckybychoice
Boondock Saints 2 last nite, pretty good to see those that need killing killed.
Vaquero
IDK what they were trying to do with this one. If yer gonna do a WWII movie I reckon ya ought to try and follow history a little. Aside from the flawed events that we all know never happened, it did deliver on action and drama. What's his face was a bit over the top on his Virginia Mtn boy character. I still chuckle about him calling that Wilhelm guy "Willy". Its a good enough movie for a snow storm day.
runawaygun762
and Inglorious Basterds sucked too. Not enough action. I still don't get most of that basement bar scene. Maybe I'll watch it again
RandyMc
mentioned here, along with Combat and The Rat Patrol......I have watched all of them at some point or another in my life. I didn't see the show you were talking about CW, but yea.....I wasn't much more than 13 and had a crush on Miss Kitty. Never could understand why Marshall Dillon didn't marry her. Vaq and CW you have probably both seen the movies I'm about to mention but if you get a chance, Eldorado, Rio Bravo, Rio Lobo, McClintock, Horse Soldiers, those were all great movies by THE MAN (John Wayne). I am sitting here with "The Good, The Bad, The Ugly" on in the background. I don't remember the movie Appaloosa too well. I know I have seen it. Another western series that may have been featured on that show, since none of you mentioned it was "The Big Valley" with Peter Breck, Jarrod Long, Lee Majors, Linda Evans and Miss Barbara Stanwick. If you remember this series, did you have a crush on Linda Evans? I damn sure did! Another movie that I liked was Silverado with Kevin Costner, Kevin Cline, Danny Glover. Also I guess the quentessential (sp?) Western with Robert DuVal in Lonesome Dove.
