BAY MINETTE, Ala. — A small child accidentally shot his mother Saturday night after finding the gun by the side of his injured father — who had just accidentally shot himself, the Baldwin County Sheriff's Office said.
Around 9 p.m. the BCSO was alerted to the shooting at 4621 Old Carney Road in Bay Minette. When they arrived at the home they found Allen and Aleisha Jones injured by gunshots.
The couple's two small children were at the residence when the incident happened. Their daughter was upstairs asleep at the time.
When questioned by authorities, Allen Jones stated he had taken his Glock .40 handgun from the glove compartment of his truck. He was walking to the house when he tripped and fell. The gun discharged, and he was hit in the leg just above the knee, he told police.
Jones yelled to his wife for help. Aleisha Jones was upstairs bathing their young son when she heard her husband's call for help. When she arrived on the screened porch, she tried to secure the gun but her son beat her to it.
As she attempted to take the gun from the child, a round fired. Aleisha Jones was hit in the left side of her neck.
A neighbor heard the gunshots and cries for help and came to Aleisha Jones's aid. The neighbor's husband called 911.
When authorities arrived, Allen and Aleisha Jones were transported to USA Medical Center in Mobile.
Investigators say the individuals' stories parallel each other. At last report, the Joneses were in stable condition with injuries that did not appear life-threatening.
No charges have been filed.

I would like to know how old the kid was who shot his mom, and if he was ever taught any gun safety? This is something I'm going to try to follow. I'm not blaming anyone yet!! As long as I can remember my parents, ants, uncles, brothers, and grandparents have always preached GUN SAFETY! But although with his dad being hit he could of panicked. Thanks for sharing!!

I never carry by Glock with one in the chamber unless it is in a holster, Have you evre seen a MIC holster for Glocks I love them.

No I haven't I'll check them out. But I can agree my gun stays holstered, even on the night stand and in the safe.

Mag in, round in the chamber. Idiots shouldn't have guns. My fucking three year old knows to keep his finger along the frame (He fired my wife's XD day before yesterday. I'm the proudest dad in the country right now. And the wife didn't film it. I'll beat her when I get home) You fall, no ND. Mechanics won't fix stupid.
Ishootdaily
It didn't slam fire so that means the dink had his finger on the trigger to begin with...
He is probably just like the ones we get on the range that can't keep their weapon in their booth and always have their finger on the trigger claiming they never had an AD and never will....

Husband accidently shoots himself. Wife hears gun go off but somehow allows her child to race towards gun shots ahead of her. Then child picks up gun and shoots her in the neck. That is crazy
BushBoy
Oh, please. Do me a favour. Dad squeezes the piece. Mon runs in. Kid loads, acquires, squeezes AND aims... Yeah, right...

I think all kids need to learn gun safety at any age.

Something seems really fishy about this story. Not believing everything that happened.I don't think they are telling the authorities everything.

Allway's look at every thing Glock.40 Husband shot himself accidentally, was it dark, did he have the gun secure. and I know growning up We have Allway's been taught taught Gun Saftey. and there are to children in the home. how old are the chldren.and would the child in the Tub have got out of the tub. she said she was taken the child a bath. and the daughter was sleeping. and as for the gun hitting her in the left side of her neck. it all depends.what hand the boy was holding the gun.

this story is strange, seems to me its got more holes than both the parrents combined.ok man shoots himself happens allot,it could happen to anyone who has a loaded weapon, but i fail to see how a child beats his mother from the bathtub to the porch, and how dad let the child get the gun even if he did get there before the mother....this story dont hold water.sounds like somthing else to me.the cops shoulda done a test to the kids and both parrents to see who fired shots recently.

i agree jay

Their is just no way it played out like they said. Hell i would believe that they abuse the kid and the kid shot them to make it stop before that bull shit. Or they are covering for someone else. Point is something else happened.
I was always taught gun safety since i can remember. My father was a NYS LEO and we were also a hunting family. Teaching safety and respect to kids are important but local LEOs not believing a crap story like that would be great too.
I just hope that they did a full on investigation but i would give ten to one odds that if they had searched the house well they would have found drugs. The parents probably crossed someone in the local drug trade and got some kind of warning. They needed to call an ambulance for help and decided to blame the kid. end of story.
