Taurus a bad rep??

Why do most people give Taurus a bad rap? I know it is a little lower on the list, but actually I have owned mine for about 10years, and it has never miss fired and only jammed once (due to using very old ammo). I know there are better quality fire arms, but in my opinion (for what it is worth), Taurus seems to be a good gun for the money.
Please comment and don't flame me too bad!!

I agree with you all above. I have 3 taurus pistols. 2 are revolvers. 1 auto. I have never had any problems at all. They have been very good pistols.

I've been stuck in the house with my sick kids for the last week and a half. They're good now so I get to go back to work but all I've really been thinking about is going and shooting my new Stag Model 3. I haven't even got to chamber a round yet. As for Taurus, I've always heard pretty good things about them. I haven't shot one yet though.

Can't go wrong with the 92, I think. Get that thing out there man! Let us know how it turns out.

I also have had great results from Taurus. I shot so much ammo (close to 4000 rounds) through my 92 that the dog ears on the barrel broke. Taurus replaced the barrel at no cost to me. They even paid for shipping. No bad words from me.

I have shot many with no problems. I own a Rossi as well and it is a great wheel gun in .357.
I think the bad rep came from the early guns when they first came to U.S.
I don't hear anything bad at all now!
I would not have any problem buying one for myselfe I like their millinium line.

I've had a 606 .357 factory ported snubbie and PT92 9mm. Both guns were great. the PT92 had more rounds through it than any other gun I've owned except my 10/22. I put close to 15,000 rounds through that 9mm and never a problem. I had a couple malfunctions, but not bad for all those rounds. I keep going back and forth on whether to buy the 24/7 OSS .45, but ammo prices pretty much answer the issue for me.

I have a 410/45 Judge, and have fired about 100 rounds of both cal with no problems. However, I have a older Ruger 357 I purchased while in alaska and after firing about 10 rounds, I have to use a screwdriver tighten all the screws. Still love it tho.!!

Taurus PT92

I don't know how they are now, but my PT92 wouldn't accept Beretta mags as is. But I was able to use a Dremel and enlarge the notch on the Beretta mags and they worked fine in the Taurus. God Dremel tools are nice. IF YOU OWN MORE THAN TWO GUNS AND DON'T OWN A DREMEL TOOL, YOU ARE WRONG AS TWO BOYS FUCKING ON THE WHITEHOUSE LAWN!!!

Taurus Tracker

I'm looking at getting a Taurus Tracker 4" barrel .44 mag. Anyone have any experience with this? I doubt it's as durab;e as a S&W, but I've always been happy with Taurus products and at 450 bucks, the price is right. Any reasons for why this would be a bad idea?

Taurus Guns

I own five Taurus guns, 4 revolvers and a 1911. Only one of the five has given me any grief and I sent it back to Taurus for repair under warranty. It needs a new barrel. The other four have been flawless and the PT1911AL in particular is my favorite gun. It is a really sweet shooter. I own several dozen handguns of all makes and types. But, the Taurus 1911 tops the list in every category.

good thread

I hear bad things often but never know what to believe. All I know is that I have to own a judge. If it's a POS then so be it but I will own one before grouse season this year. I look at the price tags of most of the taurus line and just wonder to myself if it's to good to be true.

But what do I know, I'm just a private. Havent been a private in over 20 years!! LOL!

and have never had a problem with either one. I had to tune up the Rossi when I got it. It was shaving off the side of the bullet as it entered the barrel, but after that it was accurate and a great conceal carry gun. The PT-92 AF has worked flawlessly for many years. Thousands of rounds have been run through it and the only problem I have with it is that Cor-Bons don't cycle through it very well. I have to polish the feed ramp to get Cor-Bons to run through without jamming. Everything else will run through without a hitch. I love running Hydro-Shoks through it.

was it the ejector shroud screw on the ruger? i used loctite on my super blackhawk and have not had a problem since. i regularly load 300 grain bullets for that gun. some might even find it unpleasant to shoot. i had 1 taurus...junk.
