This time of year we get the most giant thunderstorms that happen anywhere in the world. Once every other year or so we get something special in the way of supercell thunderstorms. We get one that goes the wrong way around. These storms can get twice the size of a hurricane and just as violent if not moreso because they form wall clouds and from in behind the wall clouds you can get what they call an outbreak. That's a whole bunch of tornadoes that touch down all at the same time. The day my oldest son was born there was an outbreak from one of these storms.
Is it this that Dick Perry is talking about? The lines of supercells that are headed for us?

If I read your post correctly, as long as your son is okay and happy, you should not have any of these large storms!! SO maybe you should buy him a rifle...

My sons love them too. They like the booms of the thunder and the light show from the lightning. As for buying my son a rifle, I've already decided about that ;) I think my oldest boy is going to have one of the happiest birthdays he's ever had in his life. Oh and btw, oh heck, I better finish this in pm. Just in case he were to see this.
