If you don't know the history, England banned all legal ownership of handguns many years ago with very little resistance from its people. It was thought to be a good measure to bring down gun crime. The result has been double digit increases in gun crime every year since the ban. Since then the country has taken away many more freedoms, to hunt, to defend oneself from harm, and finally its citizens are speaking up.

Many of us who put time into defending gun freedom are ridiculed that the loss of gun freedom can never happen here because of the second amendment, yet we have seen throughout the history of the US that lawmakers eager to protect their own power will readily pass laws in violation of the second amendment. To this day, even after the Heller case, Chicago is fighting an NRA lawsuit to protect their own unconstitutional handgun ban.

If it were not for YOU, the American gun owning public, who so cling to freedom and defend any affront to it, we would end up much like England, whose citizens are now reeling in the face of ridiculous violent crime rates and a government that does not represent their interests.

Forward this to your friends. I have not seen anything this powerful in a long time and it should "go viral" as it is called to anyone in America who questions those who fight for firearms freedom now, before we lose it.

If not, then the amendment is just worthless chatter.

Perhaps when politicians begin to see people standing up for their rights even to the point of death, they will begin to understand that there are millions of people willing to fight and even die to protect the freedoms we now enjoy.

I wish that people who believe like we do would be more vocal and put the politicians on notice that we are ready to do whatever we have to do to defend our right to bear arms.

Democrats don't care about what the Constitution says. They think they know better than our founding fathers, and as elected officials, they are immune from the laws that you and I must go to jail for if we break the rules.

Think about this for a minute.

Why would a person raise millions and millions of dollars in order to get elected to a government job?

They are perks available to politicians that are not available to the average United States citizen.

Besides all the power that they gain, why else would someone risk public ridicule, risk their families privacy rights, and then face the possibility of losing that power in an election cycle every few years?

That would scare the shit out the politicians. Until they are scared of "us" the people who elected them, they will continue doing the same old shit, because they know they are not accountable to anyone, because if their constituents don't say or do anything they know that they are free to do whatever they want.

Dems aren't the only one who wants to trample the Constitution. Republicans do it to. Ever hear of the USA Patriot Act? That's G-dub. How about the fact that his dad signed the Assault Weapons Import Ban, after renouncing his life membership in the NRA that he paid for before the election. The Bushes aren't our friends, none of the Dems are, we have none. I know it's cliche, but "Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely" is true no matter which side of the aisle you're on.

Here is the problem...

The Republicans are not the friends of gun owners. The Democrats are "definitely" not the friends of gun owners.

There is no one party that is totally 100% a friend of gun owners.

The only choice we have is "Who is Worse?"

Both parties are taking down the primrose path to destroying this country.

This country has tried to get a third party on the ballot, but not enough people have the balls to make that happen.

So what ultimately can you do?

Just do what you can with the people who you can influence.

Make sure you know your issues and know them well. Then speak out when you disagree with one party or the other,

Do not capitulate, or else they will know you are not serious about what you believe in.

When you're not in power and don't have the votes to even get the issue raised on the floor of the House or the Senate?

for violating our rights. People have been giving up their rights for a long time. Isn't it amazing that our tax dollars fund the loss of our rights? We are paying to become subjects. I am going to draw a parallel that I read in the book Unintended Consequenses by John Ross (a great book, one that you should all read). Imagine the government places th same restrictions on the first amendment as they do the second. Imagine the government placing a ban on books with more than a certain number of pages, or making you get a license and background check to own a copy machine. You can take this analogy as far as you want, but imagine how people would react if it was an attack on the first amendment. Well, when the second is gone, guess which one is next. By the way, let me stress again how much I think every gun guy should read that book. It's a bit lengthy at over 800 pages, but it's hard to put it down. I've read it four times, almost done with the fifth.

Gun rights

The moral of the story is never give up your rights! Whenever you surrender your rights, bad things happen. And when bad things happen, there is always someone smiling from ear to ear asking you to give up even more of your rights.

if half the gun owners were n.r.a. members we wouldn't be having this discussion. my mom is 86,does not own a firearm, yet she cares enough to pay her n.r.a. dues every year. if your not a member join. if you are a member, buy a membership for somebody else.

That's one question, the other one is will you kill your fellow Americans to preserve your rights?

The choice is theirs

If they come to take away my rights then they have chosen to have their rights away from themselves. The main one being the right to breath, so yes I would be willing to take a life or many life's if need be to keep our God given rights. I have read Unintended Consequences and that book really opened my eyes to how far a patriot may have to go to secure our rights. I say thank you John Ross for having the guts to right such a great book.

“If ever time should come, when vain and aspiring men shall possess the highest seats in government, our country will stand in need of it's experienced Patriots to prevent it's ruin."Samuel Adams

Everyone who believes the govt is screwing us...maybe we should all quit our jobs, get on public assistance. It wouldn't take long to have the govt come to a screaching halt
