High Standard Sentinel .22 that held 9 rounds. Longish barrel and resembled the S&W Police .38s of the time. Aluminum framed in the late 50's.

That was my first 22 revolver, too. My first 22 auto pistol was the first Ruger made---cost me $37.50.

Star 9mm, surplus from Spain. I paid around $20 or $30 as I remember. boy it was loose. Well used.
LLE
that looked like a shrunken 1911. I polished that forcing cone/ramp till the cows came home, and never could get it to cycle HP's.
samD
looked like a 1911 with same safeties as I remember. But so many years ago.
Ah in my youth I spent some of my money on wine, women and guns. The rest I just wasted...

I'm still young, and still spend money on girls and guns, but I perfer whiskey and rum... just me ha ha.

Hi-Standard 22 semies. Seems like I remember they were a lot pricier than my Ruger, so I never owned one. Of course, when I bought my Ruger "Standard", $37.50 was almost a week's pay. If I remember correctly, that was way back in 1953. I was in college on the Korean GI Bill, and working a full time job at a UHF TV station, making $1.00/hr. "Old goats", have lots of good memories, like using some mustering-out pay to buy a new Winnie Mod 70, in the "new" .308 caliber.
;>))

got prety good at quick drawing the semi-auto...
until i punched a hole down my right leg at 15 y.o.
ugh
had to walk about two miles back to the house.
drove myself in a '42 willis ww 2 jeep about 40 miles to Red Bluff hospital...would not take me...sent me to Redding...another 40 miles or so...spent several hours in emergency and sent me home...lots of anti-biotics because the shot exposed the bundle of nerves to lower leg...drove home in extreem pain...several days in bed sweating brains out...almost lost lower leg...
now them were the good old days...
still love the gun...
parents gave it away...
anyway...this new 12 shot needs a good look at.. :-)
EricStanford
I bought a Colt Frontier Scout in '68 for $86 bucks...another $8 for a good holster and ammo belt.
Has interchangeable 22lr and 22mag cylinders...still use it today. Fun little gun...places well...shoots cheap...looks good...a lot safer to quick draw...at least i aint shot myself with it...

it is ready, aim, shoot...
a good lessen to learn in all aspects of life...
and it hurt bad enough, long enough, and concerned me long enough to remember the lesson.
stop, listen, think, aim, speak...or take action...
EricStanford
