Top shot.. History Channel (H2)
I've been meaning to open a thread on "gun TV" for some time.. Think most of us are in agreement re; "top shot".. and "sons of gun".. The other first choice (MHO stuff) is in the gun history category, Gunny Lee started this genre (yeah i know, impressive huh) with his "male call" shows, then the history channel started "history of the gun".. and recently i've seen another one thats even better.."top gun".. This is a comparison of different design platforms.. The host has his act together.. I thought he was a SEAL but on today's program this wasn't mentioned, so not sure if i have my facts straight on that part.. I've seen two episodes, and they pretty much follow the same format.. the evolution of the weapons platform from WWI era thru to current.. Both have been first class, and both have featured in depth coverage of the weapons, and then the shooting comparison thats done by those who know and use them.. Today's was focused on the BAR.. had a Navy weapons instructor, and a Marine force recon (didn't own a cat) who finished up as a SEAL.. This was pretty cool, it featured a shoot out between the host, the instructor, and the Marine/SEAL who was a guy in his late forties, early fifties, from south TX.. comparison between three weapons, with those three pressing the trigger at a 100 Yd target.. the "old man" pretty well kicked ass.. Remember this was a 100 yds.. target looked like those i've posted at 15 yds.. ok looked like it, except group size was like 1/2.. the host was so impressed with the old boys shooting he says (wanted to remember the guys name, and of course can't) he shoots so well he could have beat us with a tomahawk.. a man has to hold his word, hold his beliefs, and hold a good sight picture. |

Evening all, be back in a couple to settle in and see whats "up" .. yeah Jon i couldn't remember what the story was there.. knew he was "forces" but not what.. did ya see the show i was talking about..
Funny the first one i saw featured SMG's and the "grease gun" turned out to be everyone's favorite.. I was surprised that the BAR fired from an open bolt.. That one thru me due to the rate of fire..
Ok my friends, will see ya all in a few.. food awaits..

Son need s to write a speech on Patriotism using the quote "Liberty and Union, now and forever, one and inseparable." Daniel Webster Any thoughts or feelings would be awesome.

desperately needs people who understand where our nation came from.
I personally have a problem with good ol' Danny Webster's position regarding nullifying
laws which unjustly impact some people for the benefit of others.
Anyway, good for your son, keep up the good work!!

We haven't deceided if this is the one for sure. thanks for the view..I want him to hear all the arguements. Thanks!

yeah, Billy said the Grease Gun was actually a favorite in Vietnam with some of the SF guys.
Stepfather carried the BAR when in the Army (Korea) but he never talks about it, never did.
Going to be shooting the Savage BAS-K 308 topped off with a Nightforce Scope on Friday also.
I'll also be hitting the UPS Store in the morning and get you a tracking number...
Shot this last Friday...

I have had an interesting & busy day(not as busy as St.JMB) but kinda. Anyway, have another fairly full day tomorrow so I'll be toddling off to the sack in a little while.
At least a few of the things I do tomorrow will be interesting.
BTW, CPA called, "Where is Mrs Daisy's tax statement?" It is not here. Took over 2 hrs on the phone b4 she found out what happened. Ten more days and it'll finally get here. All's good LOL!!

Sorry bout the tax thing, but least it worked out.. What did you think of the primary outcome.. i believe Ohio is still up for grabs right.. or did they call it..

time I got to the TV they were talking about a house trailer burning.
Did Romney whoop up on 'em? Did Santorum storm 'em?
Guess I'll find out in the morn

The host of Top Shot on the history channel is Colby Donaldson. He was a competitor on the "Survivor" game show. He did not serve in the military. http://www.history.com/shows/top-shot/articles/meet-the-host
The host of Triggers on the Military channel is Wil Willis. He is a former Army Ranger and Air Force Para-rescueman. http://military.discovery.com/tv/triggers/about-show.html

Important, and my fault i i started a thread about "top gun" with "top shot" . That lead to us all making the same mistake here.. ie the "triggers", "top gun", and "top shot"..
Colby is the host of top shot.. On top gun, which is much like "triggers" the host was introduced in the first episode i saw as a former military special ops troop, thought they said he was a former SEAL, ISD corrected this to Army.. Obviously (perhaps this is good) the focus was more on the weaponry than the host..
clintlebo
He is also the host of Top Guns. http://www.history.com/shows/top-guns/articles/about-top-guns
I think ISD might be thinking about a different host, there are quite a few of these shows on the air.

course if we can spend hours debating a quarter oz of oil, we can have a couple back and fourths on this.. Not sure Clint.. I have a feeling that ISD saw the same show that i did where the host (top gun for sure) was an "ops" troop.. Most likely scenario here is duh.. they didn't use the same host on all shows.. I'm going to quote myself here (sigh...this just gets lamer, and lamer) this from first comment;
"The host has his act together.. I thought he was a SEAL but on today's program this wasn't mentioned, so not sure if i have my facts straight on that part".. So host change would be explanation..
At this point im giving my word that neither the question of show host, or how wet to keep a 1911 will ever grace my posts again..

All I can do is cite sources, and the History channel only shows Colby Donaldson as the host.
15 February 2012 the title of the show was :Rifle Rundown". The history channel website does not go back farther than that, so i do not know if there are prior shows.
The scenario of Top Guns revolves around a host: Colby Donaldson and two "experts". Perhaps that is where the confusion lies. In "Survival of the Fastest" 22 February 2012, one of the "experts" was a Navy Seal by the name Craig "sawman" Sawyer.
