Just finished the first book in the Twilight series, and I wondered whether anyone else here is reading them, and if so, what you think so far.

There's a lot of buzz about these books being "the next Harry Potter," and while I wouldn't go that far on a number of grounds, I'm finding them entertaining. This may be on account of my overdeveloped ability to imagine myself in the shoes of the heroine, a shy, clumsy, literary seventeen-year-old girl who's not best pleased with the crop of boys this century is turning out (not that, you know, that was ever me ;)). I can see how, in high school, if a dazzlingly handsome young man with early-1900s manners had turned up, seeming to dislike and avoid me, yet saved my life under bizarre circumstances, then began to follow me around, aloofly at first, but then with interest, and it wasn't long before he was taking me on unchaperoned drives to secluded meadows where he couldn't stop maundering on about my beauty and mystery, and the only hitch was that he was a vampire... well, given that he abstains from human blood and only hunts beasts, I probably would have tolerated worse flaws.

Similarly I am now tolerating the flaws of the books, which are legion, in order to find out how this relationship develops. Call it cheap romance, and you'll probably be right. I just want to know if I'm the only one who's feeling so susceptible to it. :)

IF I WAS A 13 YEAR OLD GIRL!!!!!!!
I would delete this post, but it's just too funny. I'm sure it's a copy and paste job that goes on every forum that they can find, but the funny thing is that someone actually took the time to write it, and thought it would be ok to post on GunsLot! Atleast it's in the right section. I think ebear reads this stuff, I know he likes "cheap romance"!

Thanks, Raper. Now I know what Global Warming is. It's Hell expanding to hold all the wicked souls our society has spawned. Damn it, where's Pat Roberts to report on this when you need him? I kinda like these stupid posts from these one and done morons because then we don't have to hijack another thread to talk shit about ebear's "alternative lifestyle". Speaking of hijacking threads, I have discovered what kind of people we have on this forum. To my knowledge, my beer topic is one of the very few threads started in the last six months that has made it to its second page and is still on topic. We can't keep a gun related topic going, but beer is sacred. I love this bar.

ebear, I gave you that stool sample to wear as a cologne to cover up your meskin stench. Now you want to give it back? What's wrong, not fermented enough to mask the chimichanga smell yet?

Waste my time?

It's 7.5% alcohol in a 40 that costs 2.29. Not what I consider wasting my time. more along the mines of optimizing my assets. I actually used to smoke Newports until my platoon sergeant told me they were a black man's smokes. I switched to Marlboro reds the next day. God, I miss smoking

But I consider malt liquor to be beer, and it's a type I like so far. Guess I'll stick with foties while you sissies can sip your pale ale while sucking on a big brown cigar, wishing it was ebear's dick.

is vodka. I think I'm racist, but I don't like any of the brown stuff. Beer is the first brown alcohol I've been able to drink. And, surprise surprise, the vodka I like best is the cheap stuff, smirnoff.

Who has the reputation for being tougher men? Islanders in the Caribbean, or Russians? I'm sure the college girls look cute with their little rum and cokes, so I understand where the appeal is for you greasy, but I'll take Russian fire over anything "spiced" for manliness.

reading material

Son -n-law turned me on to this guy C.J. Box (imagine what he had to go thru is school huh) anyway he writes a series of novels about a Wyoming game warden "Joe Pickett" really pretty good stuff, mystreys set in the rockeys sort of thing.. Author is very pro hunting so his character is usually "straightning out" tree huggers, and those who see wolfs as "mystical" as opposed to a killing machine..

He's got some good points but also some very weird ones. I personally do not derive the same pleasure while shooting a machine gun as I do while jacking off. But I'll leave that to you to decide for your own mind.
