My uncle Robert has a request. He would like a scope mount for his Type 99 Rifle. The rifle was sent back to the U.S by my papaw during WWII. Could you point him in the right direction?

Also he would like to find another ammo seller other than "Norma".

Caliber is 7.7x58mm Arisaka .

He sends his thanks in advance.

Markings on Japanese Arisaka Rifles and Bayonets of World War II

Help I despertly need a stock for my ariska. It is a semi rare model, one that was rechambered to 30.06 for use by our allies during the Korean Conflict. It has peep sights, a jap imperial mark (not ground off), and a semi sporterized stock. Trouble is this stock seems to be 2 pieces glued together and has come apart. Everywhere I look, I seem to see this same desine flaw in the ariska stock. What gives? Is this Japs way of desposing of there rifles before it falls into emeny hands?

Anyway, I need a new stock for this type 99 Ariska. Any help will be apreciated.

Sounds good. It needs to be the off set kind I think. Similar to the mosin nagant scope setup. Something to do with the ejecting of the brass after opening the bolt after the shot that interferes with a normal scope mount. This is strictly what my uncle robert is thinking. Really I have no clue what he is talkin about. I am used to normal scope lined with the barrel sittin on top of the receiver.

this is why I'm not worried about China. They're too stupid to know that they aren't going to sell any of their cheap ass crap on a gun site.

You are going to have to find an after market mount. The only mounts made for it originally are for the Sniper versions of which are $$$$$ and the Scope mounts bring a very high price also by collectors so those that have them do not get rid of them....

The only ones I have seen are on Midway's site.... Other than the Williams I point out before..

Water under the bridge. Best to let it go. My opinion. Sam and snake got some history and both seem to carry a grudge. Sam carries his a bit higher, his business, not mine.

Not sure on the 44. 44-40 was 44 cal with 40 grains of black powder pushing it. The smokeless powder gave way to several 44 cal cartridges. Best I can say is be careful. Gunsmith would be better to ask. Me? Doing quite well. Quite well indeed. How about you?

The .44-40 (aka .44 WCF) is bottlenecked and has differing headspacing. I not 100% sure about it either, but everything I ever heard is a definite NO, they are NOT interchangeable.

I read the first post about the barber shop. As far as selling your gun, post some pics. I would love to see it. Hell, I would love to buy it, but it is going to be out of my price range. In my opinion, I would put it up for auction. You should be able to get thousands for it.

I am okay personally, went apeshit on a pakinstanee one morning, but they are looking for three people who did it. Had a good reason, nobody read it, I guess. I am thinking of selling a couple of guns for a damn good cause, the old ones I already put out. But I do not know what to even ask, for a special one from Henry, Anthony and I are friends. Five years ago, I asked him for as close as you can get to the rifles on the movie of rooster cogburn, then w/ John Wayne. They were Henrys 44 Magnums. But I kinda wanted a 44-40 and not thinking asked him about that. So he starts a new line and makes me the first one, with serial #JC001, and the stock from a tree from Borneo that his dad brought back during ww2, now extinct, pretty wood and made two more Golden boys out of the same tree for me and brother too. But the 44 is magnum and the other side says special, it also has the old riflemans loop for easy cocking, and brass barrell band and brass screws, my ideas, ahem. I do not want to sell but have great reason too, but where do I get a price on that ? 1st serial# and all never shot etc. John, & wood stock incredible.

AKA .44 WCF or .44 Largo,Parent case is the .44 Henry. The initial standard load for the cartridge was 40 grains propelling a 200-grain bullet.

Just so you know, the pakistan guy , my barbershop closed because of the old pole getting stolen, Brass you know, and lke 80 years old. So wife talks me into going to her shop & neibor runs it & opens early so I just get cut at 9am. paki, walks in & says he wants weave washed & owns liquor store next door & hurry up. Sits down & wife is reading a mag & on cover about Bin scum. He says americans soft and deserves it and will happen again, and we did it to our selves, & and on & on & on. I ask we done she says yes. he says I next, ignoring my wife sitting there. I say you own the store next door and ask if he can show me and put out hand to gesture to shake. My f=ing blood is boiling, so when he walks outside & grabs my hand, I squeezed his and threw his elbow back untill broken, & kicked side knee untill snapped. then held door for wife and left. Neighbor was in window and smiled & put her finger up to lips and we drove away. the next thing I heard he was attacked by three men for robbery. Too bad Huh, & life goes on. Wife still madd but John happy. Be back later-

You know , I must seem like a hot head to most on here, but these type of guys take advantage of everything the USA has to offer and the India and their 7-11's and motels and laundry places. But when they throw it in your face like we deserve 9-11, I get really pissed and calmly break a arm and knee. Then he can say if he deserves it and not just in front of women all the time. I know it is wrong, to lash out at people, but every now and then, somebody has to do something to shut these assholes up, even if they keep coming. I pay the fines when caught and rarely kill, but wanted to leave a lasting impression on this asshole for saying we deserve it. That really pissed me off. John
