Unexploded Ordnance
I need some help guys. Does anyone know of a private company that does checks and clearing of UXO? I have a project coming up that requires building a line thru an old WWII artillery range. The truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth! |

was a Government range (I'm assuming) wouldn't the Gov be responsible for that sort of thing regardless of whether the property is now in private hands?

I know that sounds reasonable but it doesn't seem to be working that way.

but they seem to specialize in underwater stuff. http://maic.jmu.edu/journal/7.1/focus/sprinkel/sprinkel.htm

Limitation, the present owners of the property may have a cause of action against the prior sellers of the property--if the sellers knew, or should have known, that the property probably had unexploded ordnance still present [and did not disclose this fact]. IMO, your client would be responsible for obtaining an "all clear"----not you. If it were my job, there is no way I send men and equipment in there, without a certification of clearance, from a professional organization and/or the federal government. OSHA will have a ball with that one!!

Looks like a good lead. I'll check them out further when I get to the laptop. The blackberry doesn't tell the whole story.

You are correct. I should have stated this is the clients responsibility but they don't know where to start. I am trying to get them a reputable company so we can all go to work.

Going to take a guess that the interface problems your going to have between all the groups.. thiers two main ones, i started to write them down and got to laughing.. the first started with an S.. they both have 5 or 6 letter acronyms..
