My idea of varmint hunting is, use more than you need, varmint don't need follow up shots.
If you hit it , you hit it. If you missed, you missed.
.243 rules. 'course, I have to shoot crosswind nearly every shot. Heavier, faster bullets don't drift near as much.
Thats my 2 centavos.
Welcome aboard as the swabbies say.

Hey samD!

Do you recall a song by Lefty Frizzell called, "I'm an old old man" ?
I heard it yesterday and it would be a great theme song for the Bushwhacker Wolverines.
I figured with your rescources you could find it, I have'nt been able to.

I'm an old old man

I'M AN OLD, OLD MAN (Tryin' To Live While I Can)
As recorded by: Merle Haggard
Writer: Lefty Frizzell

[C] Said an old man to a good-lookin' girl
Well, I've been around this big, wide [G] world
That [F] home on the hill, well, honey that's mine
I've [C] got the money if [G] you've got the [C] time.

CHORUS
Well, I'm not too old to cut the mustard anymore
I can stlll get around like I did before
So come along with me my sweet, sweet hon
I'm an old, man lookin' for fun.

What I can do now, most young men can't
There's not a town this old boy can't paint
I can make all the night clubs any old time
I may be a little old but I'm doin' all right.

CHORUS
Well, I'm not too old to cut the mustard anymore
I can stlll get around like I did before
So come along with me, my sweet, sweet hon
I'm an old, old man lookin' for fun.

Don't take me wrong I just want have fun
Have someone along to help me spend my mon
'Cause you don't live but once, so please understand
That I'm an old, old man tryin' to live while I can.

You can also deer hunt with the 5.56x45/223.

depends on there you live. In many states, .223 doesn't meet the minimum deer requirement

with a 55 gr. v-max, you shouldn't need another shot. They also make .243 AR's for guys like Vaq

AR 15 in .308

would be nice for varmint and deer. I have my eye on a RRA unit, maybe after I pay for my new laptop I may get one.
