Intellectual honesty here. What is wrong with him? What has he done that was bad. What policies do you agree with, disagree with and lets have a discussion. I really do not know anything about him. Where I live, many hate Bush, ok everyone but no one can discuss his policies and why.

i have for years heard people bitch about so and so getting a deferment to vietnam.all i can say due to my age(vietnam was done before i was born)is you older folks that were of a voting age before and by the time this "police action" took place are kinda responsible for electing the kind of people that would allow this stuff to happen.not trying to place blame but i think it all came to be after "the messiah of the sixties"John F. Kennedy.my understanding is that it was his loud mouth that created the cuban missile crisis and led to the escalation of the cold war.after reviewing history, obama is starting to really sound like a similar liberal to JFK.yes,i understand we got stuck with a bunch of bedwetters after he was assassinated but it is what it is.i also have been shown through historical readings that he(JFK)was responsible for the civil rights blowing up the way it did in the sixties, that and some really good acid!my parents were teenagers during the sixties and even to this day they still support the hippie movement.they probably ask themselves where they went wrong with me!so,all you "old dude's"when ya want to bitch about the liberals, hippies and draft deferments, try looking back and seeing who you voted for "back in the day"!

a LOT of us saw it happening and screamed our heads off. Went into the service of my country to prove and defend. You are wrong, dead wrong on a number of details above...and stuff it up your butt wrong on some of your stupid beyond expression conclusions!!
We nam era vets may be old, but there is a shit load of fight left in us!
What happened back then was part of the continuance of what started before (30's ++) and is in action today: liberal lies and gullible apathetic cowardly public.

your average Nam vet did not elect the leaders. We turned 18 and got a draft notice just that fast. Some got student deferments (like me) that allowed you to attend college. This was a source of contention because it basically meant that if you couldn't afford college you were subject to the draft. Then they switched to a lottery system based on your birthday. I got a fairly high lottery number which meant there was little chance I would be drafted--but I joined anyway.
the idea that JFK 'caused' the missile crisis is typical liberal fuzzy-headed thinking. The USSR put missles into Cuba to test a young 43 year old president. He came through with flying colors. The story is long and complex, but basically the Americans outfoxed the Russians.
As to Cheney, who can't seem to keep his heart beating more than three beats in a row, there may have been good reason for him to be defered. We know already he can shoot people. I have always found him to be a level-headed and mature man with a great sense of humor. If people don't see him in that light I suspect they haven't taken the time to know him very well.

Very good points. Oh you bring back a flood of memories from that era. That is the only lottery that I ever won. Very low #. I joined so as not to be cannon fodder.
