ebear, samD I'm sitting here at home right now with a desktop and a laptop like a friggen nerd trying to look between the both and fix them. I friggen hate computer problems, I cant begin to tell you how much I HATE computer problems. Especially if i cant fix it and have to wait for some towelhead to tell me to format my hard drive and start all over. In the immortal words of "Billy Jack" "it makes me go BERZERK!"

I'm getting real sick of microsoft and or compaq hijacking my computer...usta be that when i first turned it on...sometimes when i turned it off... id get this ...dont shut down, reconfiguring stage 1 of 3 and then a percentage deal... now while im in the middle of serious shit.. you know reading ebear or runs or something my computer will shut down, and just start doing the reconfiguring thing...this last time..right now...took like 20 min total..and as many times as its done it..i see no improvement in performance.. not one of the tin foil in the hat crowd, but do ya suppose everything there doing is on the up and up....Sure getting tired of it..

Go to the website and send them an email regarding your situation, I'm sure they will come up with a lame excuse and try to help you fix it. Mine does the same thing if i haven't turned it off for a while. Never shuts down in the middle of a session though.

Hard drive slowed way down, tons of hardware interrupts. Go get Process Explorer from sysinternals which will help you pin down the problem. Got me a new Toshiba with Windows 7. Liking it so far...

my best friend designs the mother boards and all that shit so I just get new ones when they get to old.Usually around once a year. He's building me a server right now to store my photos on.
Greg if it's highjacking your puter while you are using it you have a bug. It should only upgrade when you shut it down,Or it will ask you for a restart.

yep... i can be reading away, and all of a sudden . BAM ... screen goes black, and i get the update 1 of 3 dont turn off thing... gives me a percentage done thing, then shuts down.. All i know is it happens a lot.. least twice a week.. and no improvement in the machine... still runs on coal..that sorta thing..

Or some stainless steel panties!! You need better spyware/anti virus software. The tech guy on KFI640 radio uses "NOD32" and it can be downloaded from the net. He swears by it and he IS the tech guy. Go to kfi640 and click on Leo Laporte and browse there. I listen to him on the weekends because LA radio for music sucks. You can send him an email, his people will help you. He is the Tech guy so it may take a few days for them to get back to you.
