What ammo

In your opinion what is the best ammo for the Glock 22 .40cal handgun?

For carry?

For range shooting?

Ammo

For the range FMJ. For carry and home, Personal Defense ammo only. Federal Hydro Shoks are the best.

40 s&w ammo

Don't forget about the golden saber's BJHP in a middle weight range. It is high quality stuff. Nickle plated brass, primers are lacquerd seal and same as the base mouth to keep out moisture. They expand well and have very good penetation. For range ammo american eagle fmj, magtech is also good and afordable also. Try speer lawman FMJ ammo it is also good stuff. another excellent brand of carry ammo is hornady xtp ammo. check it out. The winchester sxt supreme is also good and very accurate.

Hello shane2644

First, welcome to Gunslot. I'm from Indiana myself. I would have to agree with samD the Federal Hydro Shoks ammo is on of the best. Federal makes some great personal defense ammo.

sorry guys

for range: any fmj, I usually use winchester white box

for self protection at home: hyrdro shocks were the best 5+ years ago before the rest of the clan caught up. they are still pretty good, and do the job... but what made them "state of the art" at the time was the "penis" (ya I said it) or little pin that sticks out of the hollow tip. this allowed them to penetrate layes of clothing and very thin barriers with out mushrooming until they went into something.

Now a days (for you old farts) we have a brand called DPX (and others) which is loaded by Corbon but uses the Barnes X bullet. This thing was designed for deep penetration through all types of barriers including wood, car doors, windshields etc... but then mushrooms out to the barnes X (which has been a proven hunting round for years) for maximum tissue damage. Like I said, Hydro shock does the job, but with DXP there will be silence. PLACE YOUR BETS! I got you! (just be aware of over penetration)

CCW: I carry Hordady TAP or Federal Tactical... sometimes even Winchester SXT +p+ if I have my 9mm... and yes I do also load hydro shock +p+ on my 9mm as well.

talons

I have a box of the black talons in 9mm and .40... but I am scared to load them because if I did have to use them... the prosecutor would tear me apart (because of the bad wrap they got). winchester now makes SXT (Same Xact Thing) which is the same without the black coating. they have also made improvements and load them to +p+ on 9mm. good stuff.

Black talons, ok

I knew winchester had them under another name, just could not remember the name, sucks getting old. LOL I would buy the STX bullets and load them and buy a box ever now and then. The black talons do make some big holes when they hit. I shoot one in a 45acp in my house by mistake and it made a hole the size of a quarter in the wall after going thru a dresser. Have never made that mistake again. LOL
