That's a damn good point, because there's the CheyTec which uses a computer for sighting in. At the same time, I can't remember the brand or caliber, but there was that new rifle that has a built in silencer that is semi-auto. It was shown on future weapons. At the same time I believe the military still uses variants of the Remington 700. If I'm incorrect on that I'm sorry. Also anti-material or anti-personnel, I think that's really the two categories.

I see 3 new one's to choose from.
1. .416 Barrett
2. M200 CheyTac
3. DPMS Panther Arms AR-10 in 6.5 Creedmoor round.
The .416 Barrett and CheyTac for 1,400 yards and beyond and the 6.5 Creedmoor in AR-10 form for anything to 1,400 yards. The 6.5 Creedmoor shoots like a 300 Win, Mag. but without the recoil of it.

I have never seen one personally. why would they make a gun with so much recoil?

no. not personally. i have seen them on numerous documentaries and online reviews.
they wanted to develope a rifle with a little more punch than the .50bmg for anit-material, and the 25x59mm allows for different kinds of ammo (high explosive, air bursting, armor peircing, etc...). they also wanted to make a sniper version of the XM 307 which is the 25mm machine gun version of the XM 109, because the majority of the parts are the same and interchangable. as for the recoil, it comes with the territory of such a big round. they are trying to improve the short recoil operation to make it more suitable to shoot when its not mounted

with the right shot placement it could. thats what the XM 307 was developed for. when you're throwing that much lead at something, its bound to come down.
