the us military currently or has used mossberg model 500 and 590's for a long time due to their enduance testing. the new current military shotgun is the benelli semi-auto. but the mossberg pump will always be in use for other tactical purposes.

Thats what I was going to suggest a Remington 870.

buy a mossberg model 500 6 shot or 8 shot persuader model. with the 8 shot model you can buy a light mount and it wont interfere with the forearm ext. area. streamlight has a TLR-1 thats perfect for the mossberg. also mossberg is very affordable. it has a fixed choke and a smooth bore bbl. great for slugs, bucksot, birdshot etc.plus a 3"chamber to boot.
