Because Wall Street would stumble with the shutdown. When Wall Street stumbles, not only our economy, but much of the world's economy FALLS down. Like it or not, the economies of the world are tied together very tightly. Unfortunately, it seems that the investors are now global rather than national or regional. I could be very wrong, and honestly I hope that I am, but I don't think I am. You can bet that if it does, the Dems will blame the Republicans, and vice-versa. I think it is all of them, they are looking out for what they think is best for them, therefore, best for the country in their view. If we could have a complete turnover of congress and the Senate over the next three election cycles, I think some things would in fact change. Unfortunately, I think that too many will vote for the same people who are there.
