I spoke with a cop here once and asked about what it takes to become one and I guess it would really depend on your own personal skills. There's a shooting qualification, obstacle course, and a basic psych exam from what I know.

basic law enforcement is actually easy. when i got out of the Marine Corps. i became a Police reservist. i still work for the SRT on a "on call" basis which seems to be lately every day. physical training as far as basic police is not much. thats why most you see are about 50 lbs. overweight.. sorry but its true. SRT requires much more because we have to do entries and searches. i too have a little extra padding and find it hard to keep up with the 22-25 year olds working with me. i turn the big 4-0 next month. sucks getting old. psych training to me is by far the hardest. they have to teach you the proper way to speak and deal with the public, and or assailants. gotta play mind games with them.. it was easier in Kuwait, just point your weapon at them and if they didn't respond just pop off a round or two... worked every time......

If you do not stand behind our troops...please stand in front of them....
