Way more serious looking than Yosemite Sam, don't ya think. Glad all is well on your mountain top retreat. Been having a little dustup with Toosk, he is very non-sensical and rude to me. Hope I have nipped it in the bud.

Anyway glad to survived "The Great AZ Blowjob of 2009" We only had about 55mph winds down here. At least all the rocks are clean, now...

.243 Winchester

I agree with Greasypaws as to both the caliber & the rifle. The .243 is a fine deer cartridge for man or woman, the recoil is something your wife should handle well, the Savage is probably the most accurate factory rifle made, & if Wal-Mart has a package deal on it & a scope, that would be great. Of course, if you can find a used Savage in a gunshop or pawnshop, in .243 Winchester or .257 Roberts, it would save you some money. It's probably just me, but I just don't buy new firearms. I can check out the function & safety of a used one, & I'd rather save the money & find a good deal. One further thought - if you can find a used Remington 788 in .243, jump on it, whether it's in rifle or carbine configuration. The 788's are really great. Be aware though, that it might just cost you more than a new Savage!

I wanted to send a quick update while you were all on so thanks snake, bob, mike, ned, sam, and the rest of ya. I have a lot of camping gear, propane stuff, so no issues with cooking or "rescue" heat, but after almost two days the place was getting sorta cool, as in freezing. Sam's right i should have a gen, but didn't want to invest the bucks with all the camp stuff. I have one of those inverter / power source things that gives like 3-4 hrs of 115 (low watt)this powered the radio for us, and we spent most of the time cleaning up the debree field.. Theres not one road sign from Yarnell, to Peeples Valley thats plumb, and most are closer to 90 than 45 degree.. Lot of old growth 36" trees down, and i could roof about 5 houses just with whats still laying around uncolected. I thought for sure i was going to lose the porch, as i really screwed up on that, and its a big "wing" for the prevailing wind. As i said i got a couple of lines over it, and secured but this was more phych for me than anything else, and NOT one of those things that made the wife real happy as it was a bit dicey at the time. I've gota turn in... see ya all in the am..

Power came back in just under two days, but it took a week to get direct tv out to get computer up.. Highest winds ever recorded for here and the big towns around us.. falling asleep here, see ya all in the am..

I agree with the .243 also, but if you spend time hunting swamp bucks, a .30-30 is also a good choice. Excellent little brush gun with very mild recoil.

morning everybody

Sam, im still trying to get usta the "war face".. If that doesen't shut toosk up were in deep dodo. Just watching the 3% oathkeeper tape that doll sent and went to some other links for it. I think the only problem is if you "officialy" join (were obvioulsy all members)your names on a list that if they ever did declair martial law, you wind up being the first home visited. Sorta like making sure you have some weapons that ARE NOT purchaced thru ffl and that BATFA has no records of.. Pretty sorry shape when we even have to have that concern

yea i was thinking about that too. its a nice sight but i dont like the first and last name being posted all the time. i like it on here where its a callsign. and obviously oath keepers gets traffic from liberal agencies because there are posts about it for not being affiliated with militias

Promise you that the academy would not go for it, the whole point is to instill a since of team work, and uniformity. Wait till your posted, and mention it to the shift cdr. who will in all probability be 100% with you.
I don't worry to much about what you said, and i'll quote ya bro "i dont like the first and last name being posted all the time. i like it on here where its a callsign" Your situation is diffrent, you need to be carefull at all times wearing the uniform, I usta tell my troops to practise situation awarness (SA that you will come to know and love) all the time, not just while in uniform, and even change thier route to work. To me this is not a big deal, i have my first and last on here, don't think im nieve about it. The gov can track you thru the internet in a heart beat, and anybody else can take a shot if they want, which is not a deal if you think about what this site is. Pretty stupid criminal that would think, ok gona track and house break.. lets see i think i'll start with a someone on a gun site.. they should be an easy mark..

The 30.06 with a good limbsaver recoil pad has hardily any recoil. They have light recoil ammo and if you do hand loads you have so many bullet choices you can load for the 30.06. Not to mention this will give her more knock down power in the chance she may want to hunt black bear or elk. The .243 has a very small bullet and very little knock down power and she will have to be spot on with her shot placement.

I am not saying the .243 is junk I am saying the 30.06 is superior to the .243 .

To each his own!
Hillbilly, I ain't never worried about you. You are allright!
But, my 243 will out shoot ypur 30-06, rain, shine, snow or hail.
Name the distance and post the target. I will go to Sackelfords range and have him witness, at his convenience. Unless he feels like driving west.
