hi just want to know what your people think is better

do you think hand gun's are better or rifles

me i like rifles i like how in the military you can be stealthy lol

but i like how you have to hold them with both hands i think you can get a better shot with them i think they are more accurate and i think most of them have more power and can deliver more of a punch idk i just grew up with rifles i also did with hand guns to i like hand guns a lot i think hand guns are better for home safety they are easy to carry if you are like a large money carrier some hand guns are very strong just want to see what you think is better i was having this discussion with my friend

they both serve their purposes. you can't really compare the two. I love both, but am more interested in rifles also.

It really depends on ur purposes...like Reaper said. I mean, u wouldnt want to use a .30-06 rifle for home defense or a 9mm Glock for deer hunting. I know more about rifles than I do Handguns, so right now I am more interested in learning about Handguns, they just have that "Bad" tough look, and there are so many good choices out there.

I have more rifles than I do pistols. But, after getting to shoot in matches with the pistol I have gotten a lot better with a pistol. I still love the rifle and the long shots you can take with a rifle. I have done 230 yard shots with a pistol, but I'm more accurate with a rifle. I have no pistols right now, but hope to buy a couple some time soon. Like a pistol for carry and the home. If I can find a place to shoot IPSC matches again I would love to and get my wife into it. Would like to do some long range shooting matches too.

A pistol is good for tight places but when it comes down to a fire fight no pistol can beat a rifle in sheer power or penetration.

for some folks, but perhaps not others. Although not as compact, I like my CX4-40 with red dot, out to 100 yards.

Comparing the two are like comparing a hammer to a screw driver. Each one has it uses the other will not do. Each of these weapons has a time and a place they need to be used. I prefer to shoot long distances just because of the element of surprise.

In terms of overall usefulness, rifles leave pistols in the dust. The pistol, however, is very good at what it does. But I can certainly say that the average person is going to have more chances to use a rifle for hunting and sport shooting then they will a handgun for shooting "bad guys".

you really can't compare them. They are used for different things and like somebody said i think it is lke comparing a hammer and a screwdriver they both have their pourposes.

you feel comfortable with. and there are soooo many grey areas. a .357 with a good scope is an effective hunting weapon and you have the judge which will chamber both .45 and 410. buy one or ten of each i say

I like handguns. Rifles are no doubt better for most anything, but they are just not going to be with you most of the time. A handgun will. A rifle in the truck, or at home. or up against a tree is just not much help. Rifles are far easier to shoot as well, but with practice, one can get along quite well with a handgun. I use them for most everything. Where I live, shots over 100 yds are unlikely, and hunting revolvers have no problems at that distance on deer size game; some of mine can handle things much further out. I also have a 243 TC encore pistol. It is capable of any shot that a 243 rifle can make. It is so easy to carry even though it has a 15 inch barrel. If you are making shots over 100 yards normally, a rifle will make your life so much easier, but if you usually shoot between 50 and 100 yards and want a challenge, pistols are a pleasure to carry and will be with you always. I hike with them, fish with them, hunt with them, and just walk around with them. They also are my car guns and house guns. I do have a zombie rifle, AR-15., a double barrel shot gun for birds, a 22 rifle, and a 1903. That's it for rifles, but I have a ton of handguns. I look for an excuse to get another one everyday.

The pistol is useful for fighting your way back to the rifle you never should have left at home. The pistol is easy to carry concealed and thus will be with you more often. A .22 in the hand is worth a M2 .50 in the gun vault. See that? Nice take on the old bird and bush adage, huh? I'm good. Anyway, for personal defense, the handgun is going to trump the rifle or shotgun most of the time as you are more likely to have it with you. As for hunting or offensive actions, nothing beats a rifle.
