MMMMM well HI there elgoo, welcome to gunslot. yes I do believe that we are a cool bunch of folks. that being said there are a few in the crowd that enjoy mixing racy pictures and their love for guns, rifles, and swords into one..

I have reasons for the things I do, just don't expect them to be reasonable

Lurking for a few minutes is not enough time to get a feel for who we are I suggest laying low and just read the threads to get who we are, oh and the pics are no more porn than playboy

Edit: "I'm just a 16 year old kid that likes to hunt and blow shit up! haha." this shows me you have alot of growning up to do Elijah I hate to tell a new member what to do but come back when you grow up a little and get some experiance, Keep the enthusiam for hunting and the best place to blow tuff up is the military.

I understand.

Thank ya'll for being honest. And yeah, I do have less life experience than you guys. But you cant tell me shooting a beer and watching it explode isn't theraputic. I plan on reading the threads. But luckybychoice, harsh much? haha. Tough love I suppose. I thought this was a place to share my love of firearms but I guess it's more than that.

Hamp my concern is his maturity we all have a sense of the real world that I am assuming most of did not have at 16, I am not trying to be mean and tried to explain to him why I thought he should not be here. I am not trying to be exclusionary but do have reservations due to the recent past thats all.

It's cool Bauer.....

Maturity....Hmmm, let's see.... I am 41 years old and have no less than fourteen rifles/pistols laying about the house (most of them loaded), some might see that as immature (my mom does) even though she doesn't say so....But I know what she is thinking, she's my mom!.....Anyhoo, it matters not.......I am always about giving someone a chance, that is where I am coming from.

Lucky, legba and the other dude got their "chance" and I appreciate what they were doing but they may have won you over with their superior attitude but I don't think anyone else was overly impressed..........Not my kid, dude there is nothing on this site that I wouldn't let my boys see, I don't believe in 'sheltering' children, thing is my boys are more interested in shooting guns than talking about them.

I am well aware of the Ryo fiasco and although I was not around to experience it first hand, I have a damn good feel for what went on after studying past posts at great length, IMO that whole deal has ruined it for any potential younger members, that and some shitty attitudes that can be found around here.

Do I want to see this site turn into a day care? NO! But there is a lot of knowlege to be gained from the members of gunslot and if a kid is honest and want's to learn then I see no reason to run him off.

Daisycutter,

doing well, I haven't been working on the truck much as of late, it's right around 100 degrees here in the land of Zion this time of year and my garage has no AC. 20 years ago it wouldn't bother me but the older I get the less inclined I am to sweating my ass off in the afternoons, next month it will start to cool off a bit and I will get some work done.

Daisy, we will sure miss ya' if you decide to bail, I hope that you will reconsider.....

Hamp, are you talking about the young kid? I think you are.
I lived by a guy in colorado, that never grew up around guns. We lived in a small town, bout 900 people. We all new oneanother.
This guy married my neighbors daughter. His father-in-law always shot into a large cottenwood tree in his front yard. I could trust Sarg.to know his rounds would strike in the tree! My house was north of his The tree was about 6' wide inline with me. Now the son-in-law was a different ombre. He was a city boy(settle down city boys). He had never been on a hunt, EVER! Well my dog came home gutshot, he said it was an accident. Now Ray Charles could see through this. I Had to finish off what he started !! That is what Pissed me off. Didn't get mad with the neighbor. He needed to know what drawing blood was like. The young man, the one I think you are refering to, needs to go on a rabbit hunt, For his own curiousity, (I think) to see first hand what a projectile will do. Even a close shot with a shotgun. Sounds like I'm sick But better than taking a gun to school.
Hamp, I think (Hope misunderstood) I did'nt use the properwording, sorry
Shot my first gun? to young to remember, but stood on the front seat of 47 Ford, with the barrel out the window. First TIT? again to young to remember mom's tit!! Girlfriend's tit Bout 15 years old.
My thoughts was him (the young kid) talkin about shootin a bear and blowin it up, And the Theraputic satisfaction from it.
Did I read more more into it, than there really was?
And a "CHANCE" I belive in giving a chance early on in life. But reading what he wrote got my attention!!
Hamp, I know you are not trying to be combative, never thought of it that way.

Is this what you are refuring to?
I look at things differently than some,
When someone makes a thret, (he made no thret)or suggestion, I question it
I just got back on line, so I am now responding to you.
Talk to me Bro. you can strighten my Butt out. : )

Beer and bear are very different.
Am I confused? or are you confusing beer and bear?

While I do consider the .308 to be an excellent round, "blowing up a bear" might take something a tad more powerful.
Kinda funny to think about though.

no 16 year olds here

when you sign up it says 18+ right. The first sentence he typed was"why all the porn".Do we need to explain the site to a 16 year old? I don't think so,been there, done that, right here on gunslot

Several people here have said this is kind of like the neighborhood bar, well in my neighborhood bar there are no 16 year old kids.Kids grow up fast enough, they don't need to have access to this site, but i'm not a mod or owner, just a patron and I'm expressing my viewpoint out in the open here,no pms to anyone. If the kid stays on,I'm outa here.

when you are not logged in here and you come on the site, pictures on my computer say in big white letters "18+ to view",it's just me,i have some special router, nobody else sees that? Really...didn't think so.But! maybe elgoo ISP address automatically senses he's 16 and through some internet voodoo, those pictures are deleted from his sight after he logs in.That must be it!
Boy the internet is amazing, wait, his first post was"why all the porn?"(sarcasm button on my computer is on LOCK),how about his 4th post, now we know he was abused by his father, now that sucks and i sincerely hope he grows up to be a great guy,but that doesn't mean he should be on this site.
He is 16,my stepson just turned 15,i would not want my stepson on this site,if he had an interest in guns, there are many websites i can point out to him where there is no photos of this type that read 18+ to view. Some have said"give him a chance",well i am,only it's a chance to seek gun knowledge without being "raised by jackals" to turn a phrase.

Those of you that knew RYO,senditboi, and that other kid probably are a little more comfortable not having to deal with them anymore on this site.

Elgoo is a kid, i have to be honest he seems like a really good kid, and i actually liked everything the boy said.. Only problem is he is legally a kid, and im not sure we want to be asking ourselves about that every time we respond to something.. Sorta remnds me of the Ryo thing.. The whole thing just sorta gives me the willies.. (Lyle thats Willies not Woodies)

What really bothers me is Daisy's comment.. Lew's been a friend for almost a year, and that one sorta caught me out in left field.. Daisy my friend i don't know what happened last time you were on, obviously it wasn't good, and im sure sorry, cause we miss your company.. I can promise you, and think all the regulars will agree, were just the same friendly, welcoming,.. Don't know about the literate.. laughing, but sure don't like to see that sorta post from a friend...

Lyle that beer/bear thing was great.. don't ever change on us guy.. I'm serious, Somehow i don't think we have to worry about it, just know we get a kick out of you buddy..

Ok then.

My biolical father was abusive thank you very much. My stepfather has been the best influence on my life bar God. And I didnt say anything about a bear exploding. This may be a bit of a ramble but yes, I do know what happens when a bullet hits flesh. I've been hunting before, plus my grandfather was in the vietnam war, and my Great grandfather was in WWII. I know that a hollowpoint does more damage that a standard bullet, and Full metal jacket pretty much just pierces a hole. And lucky, I didnt see anything about being 18, Did i miss it?

Lyle sort of pisses me off. Just cause I havent shot a person doesnt mean I dont know what it does. I've skinned a deer before. I've seen war videos.

As for not knowing the real world, I know our nation is in danger. This bills the president is passing Is doing nothing "progressive". It is all about govt. control. The government now decides if when and where I go to college (student loans were taken over in the healthcare bill, WTF man). If you want to know more, go ahead and ask.

I read it right BEER LOL
But Elgoo You are underage !!!!!
What are you doing with beer ?????
If you want to blow things up try
Diet Dr Pepper LOL or Coke Zero
I used to like shooting empty spray
paint cans and watch them take off.

Lucky has concerns because we have had
younger guys here before and it turned out
to be a bad scene,

One thing you might want to listen to is when
to carry a gun and when not to and where
it is not a good idea to be carrying a gun.

I think you said you have a rifle. Rifles are
cool but remember they are also very dangerous
if not cared for properly and ALWAYS know
where you are shooting and what at,
KNOW YOUR TARGET !! and know what's behind
it. Rifle bullets travel a long way and don't care
what they hit.

I'm sorry about your dad but I hope your
step dad has taught you gun safety.

I had a 30-30 at your age but it was the law
I never took it out unless I was with my dad.

SAFETY FIRST

When my kids were young maybe 10 or 11 I took
them out and we shot gallon jugs of water with
different guns so they could see how powerful
guns are and see what they did to a jug of
water. Hell of a shock factor when a bullet
hits a jug of water.

Best wishes

I practice gun safety.

Actually my stepdad is one of those "you dont have to be careful if there is no bullets in the gun" type of people. I never go shooting unless I'm with my grandfather or my stepdad's military friend(s). My grandfather is the one who taught me gun safety, plus I took hunters saftey course. I never really knew to look behind my target, thank you for the tip! But I never really payed attention cause We usually shoot at an old rock quarry, plus in oregon there are no deer in deer season and no elk in elk season (I saw a big ass bull elk in deer season and a 6 point buck [12 point for you easterners, haha] during elk season). And lyle. Thank you, you seem like a good guy, I try to make good out of my mistakes, and I'm working on getting over small stuff. My father got pissed over the smallest stuff and somehow that characteristic enterd me, so yeeahhh, I'm workin on it, haha.

Gun safety,

Actually my stepdad is one of those "you dont have to be careful if there is no bullets in the gun" type of people.......IS THE WRONG ATTITUDE!!!!!! Every weapon should ALWAYS be treated as if it is loaded.....PERIOD!!! I drill this notion into my kids constantly as most of the weapons in my home are loaded. They are very good about safety checking a weapon every time, it only takes one mistake to ruin lives.

I'm glad you do that with your kids, I dont want to have those little hampsters get hurt, haha. We keep our mags loaded but never in the chamber. I tried to explain to him that you always have to be careful but he wouldnt budge, any idea how I can try to teach him?

Don't know if it automatically filters the girls or not. I don't have a problem with egloo being around. He seems to be politically aware and willing to learn about firearms.

egloo, you have to understand something here. Awhile back we let a couple of kids on here and welcomed them, only to have them mess pretty severely with us. A lot of us have a bad taste about that, and we don't want that to happen again. Just to give you an idea: How would you feel if you let another kid stay at your house and you found out he was stealing from you? It's not as good feeling, right? Also, a lot of us are your grandfather's age and Nam vets.

That makes sense if you are a llittle sceptical, Just tell me If I do anything wrong. I dont know how to hack, if you're saying thats what they did.

Question:
Me, my stepdad, and my grandfather are planning on getting my mom a .22lr or .22magnum pistol just for protection, What is a good one to look at?

I have a little Taurus TCP380 that I really like, it may be worth a look....

and a .22 as a 'beginner gun' is probably a good thing to do to get your Mom familiar with guns and not be afraid of them. A semi-auto like a Ruger might be a good place to start. A .22 is probably not sufficient for home protection. Once she's comfortable with handling a .22, she should graduate to something bigger. Home protection is more of an attitude than anything else. You have to be willing to defend yourself, and that's a hurdle people like your Mom have to get through. If your Mom is serious about home protection, she has to be willing and able to kill an intruder dead.

a .45 has a bigger bang than a 9mm. A 9mm is what I use most often for practice. Many guys are of the opinion it isn't quite powerful enough for real home protection. Of course, if you don't want to spend any money and your uncle already has one, it's a free gun. Everything is a compromise. I might suggest the NRA courses on beginning pistol. In my area they offer some classes 'for women only' to get us macho guys out of the way. :-)

.45 vs 9mm

I knew that a .45 has more kick than a 9mm. Is a .38 bigger than a 9mm? I'm more of a rifle guy.
And Brady is an ex cop so He could definately teach her how to use it properly.

hmm.

First of all, I didn't change my picture to that, a mod did, and I am happy to let everyone know my age. And my stepdad would by the ammo, or my grandfather, I'm not the only one who shoots in my family. And the word douche, its pretty disrespectful, just saying. Although you don't seem like one to appreciate someone "just saying" something. agree to disagree.

This is ACE!!! One of the few girls on here. Glad U R here. I hope your intentions are true, and from what I've read, U seem to be a pretty level headed kid. I have a 16 yr old daughter, so yes, U R a kid to me!!! Since ur Mom doesnt have any experience with a gun, start her off small, until she gets used to shooting a gun. I am very comfortable w my 9mm Glock, and my .38 Special, but Iv been shooting guns all of my life. If U start her out on a big gun, she'll forever be scared of them. Thats why I said what I did. You will find that a lot of people, whether here or in life are stuck in their ways. Just respect the site, and the people on here, and U'll B alright!! Talk to you soon!!!

okay

maybe there's people on this site that like having there egos stroked by a 16 year old boy but i am not one of them, and you damn sure don't have the right or ability to think you know where I'm coming from in any way, shape,or form"just saying".So fuck off,now here's the bullshit part of this, the part I'm pissed off about,I can say fuck off to another member of this site,an adult, and it will be construed as either of two things,BS or an invitation to reply as an adult to said statement. But by me saying fuck off to you,a kid, other people will look at that as an afront to a fucking kid, you, and then I'm the bad guy,so if i act as i would around some pals, men, and we are giving each other a ration of shit,it's different than if i say something to a pimple popper like you.

Here's the other deal,I enjoy Gunslot, when i first got on here it was a free for all BS session with no holds barred, more than once i sat at my computer and laughed out loud, time and again, jumping from one post to the other just slamming fuckers, then a little fuzz face like you, started posting some shit that started out innocently enough, then spiraled into the most bizarre web of BS and deceit i have ever seen, not your fault, but i don't care,i don't turn the other cheek, fool me once, fuck you die.

so there you go Elgoo, several other members have said having a kid on here was "weird" and "creepy",I'm just stepping up to be the bad guy and tell you to go away because i am honest and direct and i have felt what Gunslot was like when kids came to play while i was trying to unwind and BS with men and women that have boned.Nothing personal.

LBC!!

Ive only heard of the past problems.... I wasnt part of this group then. I wish I had've been, but I wasnt. I see ALL of ur concerns. "He cant even buy ammo for what he's asking Q's about, so why should we even fuck with him?????" I got a feeling as soon as his mom, if she checks up on him, and checks out this site, will be like WTF??? She'll feel its more of a porn site than a gun site....(As he asked to begin with) regardless of what his intentions are. I agree that I wouldnt want my 16 yr old daughter on here. even tho she has everything that is posted in these pics, thats beside the point. I do like the fact that if I want, I can cuss if I feel the need to, and if a "kid" is here, I will hold that back from that particular conversation. I say what I need to in front of my 2 teenage daughters, but when directed to them, it comes out completely different, without cursing. And thats the way it should be. If he is outed, I AM ALL FOR THAT!!!! If he is not, I will watch my mouth in a forum with him, but outside of that forum, I WILL speak whatever is on my mind... I respect Your opinion and feelings LBC. I do hope that you see that...

Pimple popper? I haven't heard that one before. And I dont mind if you swear, and I've told my mom i'm on a gun forum, she trusts that I wont go looking at the playboy shit some people post here. I joined here knowing, well assuming, but I was right, that most of the members would be adults. And you aren't a "bad guy". You are just the one asshole that won't except that I'm not going to fuck you all over. And if I do, you won't be the only one trying to get me off of here, and I will most likely leave. I can promise you this, I'm not going to go "tell on you" for swearing, I'm not going to lie, and I'm only going to shoot legally and safely. Go ahead and keep me under a microscope. It will just prove that I'm not some asshole.

This is getting old. We know all about elgoo's Mommy now. We've answered the questions. Enough already. This kid has dominated this board the last two days, and THAT brings back memories. It is the same kind of behavior. How many of you guys would accept this kind of behavior from your 16 year old grandkid? I suggest we move on.

I deleted your other thread at your request.

LBC: I have a feeling that you were referring to me with the "ego stroked" comment because I provided elgoo with a link to ammo to go.... While I do enjoy a good stroking, teenage boys are not my thing. I doubt that there are any left in this world without the remnants of runaway's baby batter tainting them and sloppy seconds have always been a turn off for me. I was just doing the kid a favor by providing them a link as I would do to ANY other member of this forum. As far as being legal to buy ammo, I trust that he would have a family member of legal age buy the ammo for their own use. I doubt the 16 year old has a credit card anyway.

Have you ever had a younger brother or maybe a younger cousin want to hang out with the big boys? They ask question after question after question until sooner or later the conversation is all about them, all about answering THEIR questions. You want to be civil to the kid, but the fact is he's become a pest. Some of the big boys have very little tolerance and will say, "Go away. You bother me." sooner than some others who are a little more indulgent, just like parents, some of whom would just as soon kill you as look at you, and others who are so philosophy driven that they will indulge you in anything you could possibly want. You are already walking along that line.

We're not going to talk about ryo or snake. We don't owe you an explanation. The subject is closed. Find another subject. If you are knowledgeable about it, by all means speak up. If you aren't, listen.

I've held back on this

I've seen this post for some time now, and didn't really want to get involved. Now, however, I think I will. elgoo, I understand that you're young and inexperienced and relatively new to shooting. I'm glad that you're interested in shooting, and I hope you can enjoy it the way all of us older members do. In some ways I find myself in agreement with Lucky and Schuyler, but in others I don't. You stated your age up front, so you weren't hiding anything. God only knows how many other underage people have been on the site and didn't correctly state their ages, and there's no way to police this.
I started shooting while I was still in elementary school, as did many other members, being taught/instructed by my parents, relatives and older members of the community.
As far as the "porn" part of all of this, there's no true porn on this site. There are certainly some pictures that would be considered "adult", but by no means "porn". There have been many comments on here that have been explicitly sexual (I've made many of them), but I hesitate to classify comments as pornography. I suppose that there can be legitimate debate as to whether printed matter can be considered "porn" (such as the writing of the Marquis de Sade), but photographs and videos are those generally so accepted.
Personally, I was exposed to sexually explicit things from the age of about 10. It happened in my small town in rural north TX (definitely in the Bible belt) in the 1940's and 1950's, just as it happens all across the nation now. I frequently heard older guys talk about this, and listened avidly. Did it hurt me? I'm too close to it to judge. Someone else who knows me well would have to make that judgment. I'm very tolerant in matters such as these, probably much more so than the average person. I don't say that I'm right and the others are wrong, but am saying that all of us have different standards by which we judge things.
I'm not advocating kicking the kid off the site, nor am I advocating directing him toward extraordinarily sexually explicit materials. He's not my kid, and I have no authority in the matter.

If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you. This is the principal difference between a dog and a man. (Mark Twain).
